I have a Philips 29PT3323/79R. It turns on and no dark picture & sound appears for a couple of seconds and then nothing? I am a tech, is there a common problem to check with this model TV?

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, have you checked the vertical IC and/or the Vcc supply to it?

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.

Yeah it´s a hard tv to Fix...but not impossible...

First You have to Check all the Board for Cold Solder and fix it...after this check the Power Supply, ´cause they are the champion of the Problems in Philips PT´s models..see if you can find any blow capacitors near the deflector Conector...Good Luck!

What make and model number remote do you have. Often the model number is located in the battery compartment.

Did you check for any blown fuse on your tv and also did you check the inverter ?

If you have checked fuse and inverter then check soldering points of SOPS-transformer (T5663) and line-transformer (T5620) and check IC 7220 (TDA 1521Q/N2; 4822 209 73311) and loudspeaker(s).

Ihave a Philips 50PL9126D tv and I just replaced the lamp because the picture was very dark. I can see the picture but it is still somewhat dark, bright in the middle, dark at the edges. I tried to adjust...

Sounds like you may have the wrong lamp. Make sure you purchased a Philips lamp that's 100% compatible with your television model. Philips pioneered that lamp, so naturally they make 100 different types for DLPs and LCD projections.

You may have an elliptical lamp instead of parabolic. The lamp for your TV should read P22h.

Picture problem

Usually that symptom is caused by cracked solder joints on the vertical output IC. As the IC starts heating up, the picture starts breaking up at the top with several "dancing" dark lines appearing, the top scrunches down and then when the vertical quits altogether, the screen goes completely black. A good slap on the side of the TV might make it happen faster or clear it up temporarily. If you have experience working on PC boards then you can resolder the pins of the vertical output IC but if you have never soldered parts on PC boards then allow a qualified tech to handle it for you.
