DVR doesn't read disc, says region doen't match

DVR says region doesn't match, movie plays in my other dvr and I can't find what the disc region is in it's jacket. If the region in the disc was 1 what other reason could there be for the dvr to give that error message. I tried cleaning the lense an still gives me the same error...

Jimmyd, do other region 1 DVDs play in your Yamaha? If yes, then it's probably the dvd. If other DVDs are also having problems, it's possible that the DVD player's region changed.

Check the region of the new one probably it is region 4 made in china.your disc is a region one thats the reason why it cannot play on your new dvr which is a region 3 or 4.go on the web and see hw you can hack the code or burn a copy of that same disc.then try it in your new dvr.good luck

I am in australia and play region 4 dvds I want to but a region 1 dvd will it play?

HELLO

Not if your machine is locked to Region 4! It's possible there may be a region hack for your machine, have a look on www.videohelp.com and go to the hacks section.

To see if it will play try to borrow a region 1 disc. If it does not play, then you'll only be able to play Region 4 discs only.

ALL THE BEST (:-)

DVDs burned with Pioneer DVR-110D do not play on the same burner

Are you burning the files with a DVD+R format. Use DVD-R. Not all players will recognize DVD+R. Also, check the region that the movies are made in and see if the player can be switched to that region. Also, are you trying to burn files larger than 700 MB. If you are, in creating an iso image or copy if you are downloading the file you have to match the checksum of the original file to the downloaded one.

LOCKED DVR

I just bought the CH-DVR 1600 @ Target. This is just a temporary workaround to enable playing of region 2 DVD disks (don't have other regions but believe it will work also), until the real regional unlock is available.

1. Insert the region 2 DVD disk and close the tray.
2. Wait for the "Wrong Region" popup to appear in the upper-right corner of your TV screen.
3. The display on your DRV reads "STOP" at this point and the "Wrong Region" popup has disappeared.
4. Press the number "1" button on your DVR remote and a small input popup will appear in the upper-left corner of your screen.
5. Do not press anything else and the DVR will accept this entry as a chapter # and proceed to this chapter to start playing the movie.

NOTE1: The DVR runs in a somewhat restricted node, e.g. the DVR display still reads "STOP" and some remote functions do not work, such as "Menu". The input numbers correspond to the chapters on the DVD disk, so you can experiment and get to the menu once you hit one of the extra feature chapters with a "back to the menu" link on it.

NOTE2: I’m anxiously awaiting the real unlock sequence, as I tried most of the old ones posted here, none seemed to work.

also try this
-Switch player ON with no disc in the tray. Close tray and press MENU, 1, and 9 on the remote control. A menu should appear with the Region Option. Highlight the Region entry and press ENTER on the remote. Type in the Region you want. (Put 0 for code free) Press ENTER again to confirm choice. Press OPEN/CLOSE TRAY button and put in movie.

Not sure, but could be as simple as switching to a dvd-rw disc. Not all recorders recognize all formats.

Go Video Unlock Code

check the menu settings or (setup) on the dvr 4000 to see if it has options to enable or disable parental lock or to change region settings to region 1.

also the dvds you made are they +r or -r on what brand dvd record disc on dvd-r this may solve the problem but use a quality brand disc like memorex dvd-r it is compatible with many players and recorders also make sure the disc you made on the recorder were finalized.
