I have what would seem like the same problem but progressively worsening and on a D610 lattitude. The laptop used to bootup and then it would freeze up on the windows desktop screen.(Mouse wouldn't work, keys don't function.)

Now the laptop starts to boot up and freezes while in progress of booting up.

It seems that when I pres the area on the left of the mouse pad with quite a bit of pressure, the laptop starts to boot up, but as soon as I take the pressure off it freezes up again. This is in around the location of the hard drive.

    Please advise

Before it freeze, did you get any error message?

Please restate your problem as "held" means little. If it turns off on AC power then it may be overheating. If it freezes then describe what you see as that could be a program problem.

Viruses and spyware slow your system to a crawl by sucking up your resources and cpu. Check out Panda Scan's online free scanner. It's a nonbiased third-party scan that isn't located on your system so you get best scan possible. No virus corruption! Hope this helps.

    Solution for bagriffiths

You should do a restore. Assuming your running XP, hit F8 after your bios boot screen but before your XP load screen. From there start system in safe mode and it should ask if you want to restore. If not go to Start-AllPrograms-Accessories-System Tools-Restore and restore to an earlier time before your issues. Most likely right after your drivers were all installed. You will lose your programs installed but not your files. Small price to pay for a functioning pc! Hope this helped.

The battery is fully charged, and the ac adapter is plugged into the laptop, when i push the on button the laptop will not start

Remove the battery and power source. Remove the RAM and hdd. Power up with the power supply and it should do something. If it does, replace the RAM and hdd it should now restart. If nothing, check the GPU.

How do I get the battery out of my acer laptop

Your Model of Aspire has a different battery release method, see attached pic on how to do it. This is a pic from your User Manual, you can download it from here Download Acer Aspire E1 572

. I suspect that the information you have been given regarding battery removal and passwords refers to removing the cmos battery as in a PC in the hope that it will clear Bios activated passwords.

I had a similar problem and I had to "Delete Volume" when in DIsk Management. I then had a choice to "Create Simple Volume" which I did, and then a wizard created the correct partitions and assigned a drive letter to my external drive. Everything was them OK.

Button keeps blinking

It sounds like it could be either the battery is going bad and not holding a charge or the adapter is. I have had really good luck with similar problems going to places like Batteries +, and large electronic retailers, and my favorite the small local mom and pop computer store; where I end up asking them If I could try one of the adapters from the floor model to eliminate if is a faulty adapter. Other then that I'd if its not out of warranty contact Acers online chat support at http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/service
