We are delighted to hear from you as our Valued Customer. We regret the trouble you have experienced with this product. Check the CENTER SPEAKER for operation. This single speaker carries the vocals for DVD discs, but is not uesd for TV and CD AUDIO. Check the wiring on this speaker to make sure that the contact points on the DVD player are touching the wire, and not the rubber insulation on the wire. It sounds like a problem with your centre channel or speaker. The sound of Voices and on-screen, actions in the middle of the screen are played through the centre speaker. General sounds such as music in the background, off-screen events, etc. will be played through other speakers on a home theatre system. Check your connectors coming from your DVD player to your sound system. Are you using a single-cabled digital connector or one for every channel? Check your sound settings as well, i.e., Surround, AC3, Music, etc.

"DVD-AUDIO" is a specific type of ultra-high-end multichannel audio format that few people appreciate or understand enough to support in the commercial marketplace.

Movie DVD's are not "DVD-Audio". They are DVD's with audio of various formats. So don't sweat it if "DVD-Audio" is grayed out when you don't have a DVD-A disc inserted

2. Select Audio mode on the remote control
3. Hit the "Surround" button repeatedly until you hear all the sounds you expect to hear.
Go slow inbetween hitting the button to make sure the sound is playing.

When watching a DVD in surround sound movie mode

FIRST- double check that the center channel is hooked up in the center channel connection. we have all made this mistake. second if you are watching a movie through a dvd or bluray player be sure that both your audio L/R rca's or hdmi cable's are plugged in. I do not know if your are on cable or satellite? Double check the connections. Be sure that the that if your can select your sound preference turn it to 5.1 surround or matrix. hope this helps

Backround sound is fine but voices speaking are muted

I'm not sure of this system but if this was mine I would say it sounds like your playing this in a 2-Channel mode which eliminate the center channel.
you music may be set up fine, but the mode you play a dvd in may be set up for 2-channel mode. try a dolby prologic 5-channel or some other mode if you have one.

I have a somewhat similar problem, but wasn't after a cleaning disk use. Most of the time when I try to use this system now, after I put a DVD in, I start getting a loud buzzing noise (almost as if gears are meshing)
