Good morning I have a laptop that is in need of formatting I bought it at a yard sale and now I cannot get into the cmoss to boot from cd the computer does not see the d drive and the c moss has a password that I do not know what should I do

was the password from the operating system? youll be needing an external cdrom to boot a cd from the cdrom drive. if the operating system of your laptop is winxp then your in luck coz you could use ERD Commander to erase the password. just go to youtube type ERD commander and a list of videos will show you how to remove the password. if the operating system is win vista or 7, i guess you need to reformat the system......

Depends when it asks for P/W is in the black n white screen or logon to windows.

Boot into safe mode and negotiate to passwords in control panel, remove password.(If in windows logon P/W)

If its at boot up in bios then its a complete dismantle of the laptop to remove the cmos battery for 1 hour.

Restart your system and hold down F11. You'll restore to factory settings. As if you just bought it new.

Im sorry but the cmoss password cant be removed. You will need a new harddrive with a windows cd

Go to http://downloads.lexmark.com/perl/downloads/downloads.cgi and select your operating system then download the driver. You won't need the CD. If this helps you, please give me a good rating.

Yes, you need the XP SP2 Disk, and make sure you boot order in your BIOS is set to your CD/DVD drive before your hard drive (if not, make it so).
Then boot the PC with the XP disk in the drive and look for boot from the CD before Vista starts to load (you'll only have a few seconds to hit any key to do it) then you will have the opportunity to delete the partition with Vista on it and then create a new on and then format the new partition and install XP.
