Non system disc or disc error fix

Hi, do you have a floppy disk, cd or usb stick inserted in your computer? Try removing such items and reboot as it may be trying to read these before the hard drive.
Check the boot order, when you first turn on your computer, access the BIOS menu (may need to push Delete, or one of the function keys eg F2, F8, F12 etc).
Check the boot order to ensure the correct hard drive it listed. Try moving the hard drive to the first option and reboot.
If removing any cd, usb stick etc doesn't help, try removing the hard drive and see if you can access it from another computer. If you can't access it, your operating system nay be corrupt and you may need to reformat.

Hi all was ok in till i removed my hard drie affter i shut down the system and turn it off i removedthe hard drive now system will not boot back up it will power on but wont boot up ive unpluged everything...

hi im josh in cebu phils.may i help you? friend try to do this things. first i suggest to change new ide or sata cable.if still persist.try the following:
Boot order: Traditionally, a computer is set to boot first from the floppy drive, and then from the main hard drive (Drive C). This means that the computer will check the floppy drive first for boot files. If there is no disk in the floppy drive, the computer will then go to the hard drive to look for boot files. That is why if you leave a non-bootable floppy disk in the drive and try to boot up, you'll get an error message such as "NTLDR is missing. Press any key to restart." or "Non-system disk or disk error." This can be changed to pretty much any order, including CD and DVD drives. It is useful when installing Windows on a new or just-formatted computer to set the computer to boot first from a CD-ROM drive, and then insert the Windows installation CD-ROM into that drive. This saves you from having to use boot floppies that might or might not come with the Windows CD-ROM. Good luck.

Windows xp does not continue to start up

Hi if you hear knocking noise from the hard disk then it has conked off - as for the data there are service agents who claim to retrieve even from bad hard disks - search for them on the net .

Ntldr

First check your bios & make sure it see's your hard drive & it's setup correctly. If it is there could can be other reasons for the missing NTLDR.
Suggest you take you Windows CD and boot to it. If your CD does not boot. Re-start the PC & start pressing the F8 key every two seconds. This will bring up a boot menue. Choose your cdrom drive.
Once in the Windows XP setup menu press the "R" key to repair Windows. Log into your Windows installation by pressing the "1" key and pressing enter. You will then be prompted for your administrator password, enter that password. Copy these two files to you Hd. copy e:\i386\ntldr c:\
copy e:\i386\ntdetect.com c:\
Replace the drive letter listed above for your cdrom's drive letter.
Once copy has been complete re-boot your Pc.
If you still get missing NTLDR. Do a complete reinstall of windows. Your personal data should stay intact.
Please post back if this has not fixed missing NTLDR, there are more fix's that can be applied. I only listed the most common.

NTLDR is missing in my computer

firstly check your bios settings
the pc may be trying to boot from another source rather than the hard disk. (cd rom maybee)

if thats not the case

you can set the pc to boot from the windows cd and go thro the recovery consol
  1. When prompted to press any key to boot from the CD, press any key.
  2. Once in the Windows XP setup menu press the "R" key to repair Windows.
  3. Log into your Windows installation by pressing the "1" key and pressing enter.
  4. You will then be prompted for your administrator password, enter that password.
  5. Copy the below two files to the root directory of the primary hard disk. In the below example we are copying these files from the CD-ROM drive letter "E". This letter may be different on your computer.

    copy e:\i386\ntldr c:\
    copy e:\i386\ntdetect.com c:\

  6. Once both of these files have been successfully copied, remove the CD from the computer and reboot.

the easyest fix for you is to re-install windows
this file is the nt leader file

hope this helps
