How do I fix a crack in my driveway

In an asphalt driveway, cracks are often caused by water that has seeped underneath the surface. With increasing and decreasing temperatures, the water contracts or expands. Fixing cracks can be done using fillers but before starting the actual work.

First make sure that the area that needs fixing is smooth and clean. The fillers or patching product will not stick well in rough areas. Remove all debris from the crack using a brush and then a powerful air gun to totally get rid of all residue and loose particles. Don't forget to wear safety goggles when cleaning to protect your eyes.

For small cracks, you can apply the filler using a caulking gun but if you don't have one at home, you can simply pour the filler into the crack. Be careful not to get fillers on areas that don't need repairing since the filler can leave stains on your driveway. For larger cracks, those more than two inches deep, pour the filler little by little, first filling up to the first two inches of the crack.

You can avoid cracks in driveways by installing driveway grids from Ecodeck & Pond Safety Ltd. Visit their website to learn more.

I have electric gates and my question is regarding the pillar that the arms are attached to.

Use Hydraulic Cement, rather than regular concrete. Regular concrete mix, sand mix, etc doesn't bond well to existing concrete. As soon as you put some torque on it, the bond breaks. When you dig or chip out the area to be replaced, make it larger at the back than the front. When you fill it with hydraulic cement, the slight expansion of the hydraulic cement will force a tight bond. The brand that I used for years is Rockite by Hartline Products, but there are probably ten others. Most people don't realize that when normal Portland cement cures, it shrinks slightly, which is one of the reasons it doesn't bond well to other concrete... it pulls away. If you look at where railings have been drilled into existing concrete steps, you'll see smooth gray material has been poured in. That is usually hydraulic cement. For a sideways application, you will need to make a form to hold the cement it... it is very liquid when you pour it. I would advise putting your bracket and supports in first, and pouring them in place. Put nuts and washers on the bolts, so the cement has something to grab. Be aware, you have to work fast. From mixing to initial cure is only a minute or two.

My car is honda civic 2003 hybrid

For starters, try to find a shop with a diagnostic computer that can pull the codes from the car's computer. Obviously, this could be a bit more of a challenge in Jordan than in the US but there is nothing special or unusual with the HCH in this regard. Post back with the codes you find and then we can narrow things down a bit on what is wrong.

The next question is whether it is acceptable to import used auto parts into your country, some countries are very picky on this. If you can then there are some salvage dealers that specialize in Honda in the US and you can probably find what you need from one of them. I have used Troy's in Tuscaloosa AL and highly recommend them. They have a huge stock of wrecked/parts cars and do nothing but Honda. They can also probably be very helpul with diagnosing exactly what the problem is. Here is a link to them: http://www.insiderpages.com/b/3709541230
