Question about Canon PowerShot A420 Digital Camera

Outdoors pictures too bright

All pictures I take outdoors are too bright to see anything, but there is no problem with videos I take outdoors or indoors. This problem started two months ago and I had no such problem two years ago when I bought this camera. What is the problem?

same problem here. the store where I sent the camera for repair told me I would need to change the whole lens part. it costs more than a new camera. it is a PowerShot A460.

too bad for canon... I really liked their cameras.

I think your ISO setting is very high or is in default.
Please shift it 100 whent you thaking outdoor snaps in daylight or normal indoor light. It will help you to produce a better photograph.
Best wishes.

Fail to take outdoor picture

There is a known "bug" in the earlier S1000 models. You would benefit from a firmware upgrade which is available as a download from Fuji's website. The Canadian site is www.fujifilm.ca . Just look for support and firmware downloads. You can find out there which firmware version is in your camera, and the upgrades, with what they correct.

This issue is caused by either a defective CCD or main-board one or the other needs to be replaced. You can go to www.digitalcamrepair.com if you need further assistance.

Pictures are too bright when shooting outdoors in sunlight

Have you tried changing your settings manually to outdoor? Or adjusted the aperture? You can usually find the aperture settings under the menu button. If not, try adjusting to outdoor conditions and disabling flash. And also, lower your white balance a good bit.

Very Bright Outdoor Photos with lines

The shutter is stuck. The electronic "noise" created by the solenoid trying to move the shutter blades causes the lines on your pictures. The bright outdoor pictures is due to the fact that the shutter is jammed open. You can try tapping the camera on the sides and bottom. This may jar the baldes loose. Failing that, you will have to find a shop that can obtain a replacement lens assembly for your camera.

The LCD screen is hard to see. What should I do?

If the LCD screen is too bright or too dark, adjust the LCD Brightness setting in the Setup Menu. If you are shooting photos outdoors in bright light, move the joystick to the icon showing the sun over shaowed area to turn on Outdoor mode and make the LCD screen easier to see in bright light.

FD-88, viewing LCD in daylight, too bright

You're not doing anything wrong. Sometimes it's just hard to see to LCD. You could try turning down the brightness, or turning off the backlight, but that doesn't work very well either. There are sun shields for sale. I have a FD-88 also, And so far I've been able to see the screen ok in sunlight. But It's winter in Minnesota so the sun is low in the sky, and I can normally shade the screen with my body. Hope this helps.
