Question about Technics DVD-A10 DVD Player

1 Answer

Disc playback issues

My player will not play CD's, DVD Audio and some DVD's. It will however play the included dvd-a sample disc and some DVD's. The display on the unit says no play and on screen display says that this type of disc cannot be played please insert a different disc. With the discs it will play it is functioning correctly. Any input on this would be greatly appreciated. I want to know if it is something that someone has seen before and if it would be cost effective to fix or just upgrade to something else. Thanks in advance for the help and advice. Edger

How to repair dvd player v zon says wrong disc

Hi Vzon DVD Player,
Before you fix anything, you need to troubleshoot the problem first to know what needs fixing. Since DVD players can play different kind of media formats like Audio CD, VCD, mp3, etc, please try the following
1. Turn on the DVD player and set the program to DVD. some player needs to be setup due to multiple functionality (can play mp3 on flash drive, etc..)
2. insert different Media CD as mentioned above if your player will play them. (if they play, try to insert the DVD you want to play)
3. Try different DVD disc
4. If all the above don't work, try to clean the laser head using the standard disc cleaner.
5. retry the DVD disc
6. If the player still don't play your DVD, probable issue would be the laser head or the disc motor.
7. Please bring them to you nearest Electronic repair shop for further assessment.

Good luck and thanks!

This model DVD player can play the following disc formats:

DVD-Video (Region 1 or relevant region coded store-bought movies)

DVD-R (must be finalised on appropriate recording equipment for compatible playback)

CD-R (for jpeg/mp3 media files)

CD-RW (for audio such as mp3)

This player will NOT accept DVD-RW/+RW discs, or Blu-Ray.

I hope this helps you a tiny bit.

When I try to play data disk I get file then directory Root how to I get out of that

A regular DVD player doesn't support playback of a data disc. It can only be used to play audio and video discs.
Furthermore, a DVD player that supports playback of Divx can only play a data disc that has any movie of music files on it.

Phillips pet 706/05 dvd player wont dvd-r-rw

  • Disc not loaded. Load a disc into the player, close the door and press PLAY.
  • The disc used may be defective. The disc used may be defective, try another disc.
  • The disc is placed improperly in the tray. Make sure the disc is properly placed and centered in the tray and if the disc has a label on one side, make sure the label is facing up.
  • The disc is dirty. Use a soft cloth to clean the disc by wiping in a straight line from the center of the disc to the outside edge.
  • Use of DualDisc or Flip Disc which does not meet the Compact Disc Digital Audio Standard. Some music labels have recently introduced the DualDisc for pre-recorded audio and video content. The DualDisc bonds DVD content on one side 'back-to-back' with digital audio content on the other side. However, the digital audio side does not meet the technical specifications specified in the Compact Disc Digital Audio Standard. For this Reason, DualDisc is not permitted to carry the CD logo. Philips DVD and CD players and disc drives fully comply with the CD specifications and therefore may not recognize the DualDisc. Attempting to use DualDisc may lead to playback problems or jamming in the slot loader or drive.
The DVD video content on the DVD side of the DualDisc should play on Philips DVD players and DVD drives. However, Philips DVD players and drives do not support DVD Audio, and will not play any DVD Audio content present on the DVD side of a DualDisc. Philips will further investigate DualDisc and update this notice accordingly.
