I'm assuming you just need a driver...

What kind of sound card do you have?

It'snot worth the cost to have it repaired. It will be cheaper and easier in the long run to just get a new card

I am not seeing any motherboards at the normal places I would look. How old is this computer? If it is less than a year, call Acer Tech support and they should repair it at no charge. As for sound card, it is built into the motherboard. If you have a PCI slot left open you could add a seperate sound card.

Hope this helps

My emachine does not have sound. Apparently the sound feature was installed on the motherboard. The repairer installed a sound card and reformatted the hardrive and this worked for one day. Please...

Are you using Windows? If so, you can try the following link to fix the sound playback issue automatically.

http://support.microsoft.com/gp/no_sound

Other options will be reinstall the sound driver come with the sound card or perform a system restore to the date the repairer fixed it. You can check the accessories and volumns to make sure those are working too. Did the repairer reformat the hard drive because of virus?

Canot get sound no matter what i try

1 .
Check that your volume on your computer is not muted. Take a look at the task bar. Locate the icon that looks like a speaker. Click on it. If the mute button is pressed, click it to un-mute your computer. If your mute button is not pressed, make sure the speakers are turned up. If they are turned up and you still hear no sound, move on to Step 2.

2.
Open Device Manager on your computer. Click "Start" or the Windows icon, then click "Control Panel." On the Control Panel menu, select "System and Maintenance" and then click "Device Manager." Provide confirmation if prompted. Click on the "Sound, video, and game controllers" category in order to expand it. Look to see if a sound card is listed. If not, you will need to install a sound card.

3
Look for a exclamation mark next to the name of your sound card. If there is a yellow question mark, right-click the sound card and click "Properties." Make sure the general tab is selected, and check the status of the device (in the Device status box). Go through the required steps to repair the sound card. If you do have a sound card installed and there are no errors, but you still have no audio, see Step 4.

4
Check to make sure your speakers are plugged into the correct jack. If you have a Usb device, it should plug into any Usb port, but if you have a 1/8 inch cable, there is a specified jack for it on the back of the computer.

5
Make sure that your sound card is compatible with your operating system.

Thanks.

How to repair a sound card

Hello sir, hi, I see that you are interested in the art of servicing, for us technicians we don't usually repair a soundcard, we replace the entire thing, but if the troubles are the port, contacts, some audio integrated IC's, it can be repaired and replaced, but if the trouble is the chipset, memory and sound card bios, we don't, those parts are out of reach, and can only be bought from the manufacturer or salvage from other sound cards.
You also need troubleshooting equipments, which are expensive. which in the long run is, better buy the new one. Welcome to the world of headaches and stresses, but its a fulfilling hobby. = )

I have a HP PC. the compouter does not boot. A vendor tested it and said the sound card is gone bad. The sound card is on the motherboard. wat to do?

Unless you love this computer you have to take this mother board to the manufactuer for componant repair.
Could be anything. Diode issue or transister unless you have the schematics for this item you can fix it your self and test, however if you don't love this mother board as you do... might just have to replace the mother board

Speakers work but crackle when in use with my dell 8300

Most likely this is because of a loose socket. Check to see if there's any dust or debris inside the audio socket(s). If cleaning it/them out doesn't work, then the socket is loose and the only way to fix the problem would be to get the sound-card repaired or buy a new sound-card.

It's my opinion that buying a new sound-card would be cheaper. You can find a good amount of them at this website. Simply navigate to Computer Hardware>Input Devices. Now on the left click, "Sound Cards." Watch out, though. There's a link labeled, "Sound Card Accessories." However, it doesn't lead you to the same page.

Let me know if I can assist you further or if I need to explain anything mentioned above in more detail.

Hi, I am junaid i have purchased the sound card but unable to install the driver because the some file corupted. so please help me. Thankyou

Junaidboss,
1st you should delete the file that is corrupted or quarrentine it using your security software. This will allow you to download and install the driver needed for the sound card. You did get an installation Disc with the sound card right? If you did not simply go to the manufactor of your PC
's web site and search for Drivers for sound card ........Or you can install the card and go to Sysytem icon in the control panel and propertied will come up.Click on them and you will see Device Manager. Look down the list of items installed on your PC and near the bottom you will see either sound devices or media plug ins. If the driver is wrong or out dated it will show (in Yellow) a ? mark or a ! mark in Yellow. Click right there and it will say Repair,install,etc... You will be good to go after updaing your driver.
Great Luck!!

Acer sound card plug?

Maybe the sound cable was disconnected. It is a 3 pins connector. It is not easy to see on the motherboard. The sound cable of your sound card has to be connected there. You might have to bring your computer to a repair service desk. I have also an Acer computer. And on mine, it is located near the rear on the computer.
