I'm having the exact same problem, and I'm 99% certain I know how to fix it. Unfortunately I need the cd that came with it, and I don't have it. On the cd there should be a folder with some files to re-install the firmware on the player. It might have "stmp" in the name but I'm not sure. Assuming the cd does have those files, you want to first install the drivers that come in that folder. Then on the mp3 play, keep it unplugged, hold the on switch in the "On" position, and while keeping the switch held, plug in the usb cable to the player(make sure the other end was already plugged into the computer.) What this does is force the player to be detected by windows as a recovery device. Those drivers you installed were for this new setting. Once that's done you can run the firmware installer/updater from the cd, and it should re-install the original firmware. Then just unplug the player, wait 30 seconds or so, and then turn it on as normal. That -should- get it working again. If it doesn't, you might have to plug it back into your computer, the normal way, and format the player's hard drive. You'll lose whatever music and videos you had on it, but it might need to be formatted after a firmware re-install.

If I'm right about the cd having the firmware update(and I should be), and assuming my post is helpful, you might consider putting those files into a zip file and emailing it to me at polign at yahoo dot com so I can fix mine too. I've searched the internet for hours, and no once has it for download. I'd really appreciate it. And if you don't happen to have the cd, then I guess we're both out of luck.

Good luck fixing yours.

My memorex mmp9008 keeps saying boot error, shutting down everytime i turn it on

If the unit acts erratically, reset the unit by inserting a thin object (such as a paper clip) into the recessed Reset button. The Reset button is located near the headphone jack. It is a very small hole. This will resest you unit to factory defaults and will help determine whether its a software or hardware malfunction.

Hello,

carefully follow the steps below:

My Memorex MMP9008's backlight is not showing up .The screen is basicly black.

I may have a solution for you. Turn on a lamp, and turn other lights off... Sunlight from a window will also work. Position the screen so there is no glare. Turn it on. Press down then play, and it should take you to settings. This should be bright enough to read without a backlight. Then go down to factory settings and hit OK. Hope this fixes your problem! =D

How Do I Put Videos On My Memorex mmp9008 mp3 player?

You can use the Media Coder that came with your player. Instructions here: http://www.memorex.com/downloads/manuals/MMP9008-E_S.pdf , page 15.

Or, go to http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html and download SUPER@. Be patient, they make you click through three pages until you can download the application. Once downloaded, set it up like this:

5e538f6.jpg

If you right click in the area below the output section, you will get this menu:

1d8f84e.jpg

You can drag and drop your media files into the area where you see one of mine. To change the destination folder, click on output file management.

When you click "Encode (Active Files)" , it will give you a choice of encoders. Choose "XVID" , and your files will playback on your MMP9008 every time! Enjoy! A 1.6 GB file will shrink down to about 150 MB.
