My dryer has had a problem of periodically humming when the start button is pressed. Yesterday, the dryer quit working all together. The only thing it will do is "hum" when the start button is pressed. The drum will not turn and it seems nothing else is moving. I'm thinking it has something to do with the motor but I don't know. Please help...

I took off the front panel and eventually the rear "window" panel. The belt isn't broken. I replaced the front panel and door, then I plugged it up and pushed the start button. The motor doesn't turn, just a humming noise. I also felt of the side of the motor (after I unplugged it) and it was very hot.
The repairman came by yesterday and said it was the motor. He is coming back next Wednesday to replace the motor.
Our Maytag Neptune has given us a lot of problems such as, sensor not working efficiently, clothes smell burnt and hums without running. We're buying another brand. Maytags are not built the way they used to.
