The camera might need resetting to the factory default. Take the batteries out, leave it for 1/2 + hours, reinsert the batteries and set/config again.
If that does not work I think the camera is dead.

Low battery

The manual says:
The camera turns off immediately even when battery power is full.
The remaining battery power is low even if new batteries are inserted.
•The remaining battery power may not be displayed accurately, and the camera may suddenly stop working, when the type of battery and the settings on [BATTERY TYPE] are not identical. However this is not a malfunction. Depending on the battery
brand and the operating temperature, or if exhausted batteries are used, the remaining battery power may not be displayed accurately.
and:
Use sufficiently charged batteries when using Ni-MH batteries.
You also should set the correct battery type in the setup menu. So put in alkaline / NiMH or oxyride. According to what you are using.
Before you panic, buy a set of alkaline batteries, to make sure your camera is ok. Perhaps you are using rechagable batteries who are not ok anymore.

Vtech Kidizoom camera. Have changed batteries but unit is not even switching on. Son has had for just over a year and it has been dropped several times.

Try cleaning the battery contacts inside the battery compartment. Do this with a cotton swab "dampened" in rubbing alcohol. You may also want to clean the battery contacts and the charging station if so equipt. Thanks, Dana

Zoom error

It appears that the moving parts of the objective(those that go in and out when you zoom) could be damaged. This occures when the camera is dropped-in this case the most you can do is cleaning the moving parts and try gently to shake them or do anything that may unblock it.

Another blame could be the weak batteries or acumulator of your camera.Try get some new batteries or charge the acumulator.

A final thing you could do is reset to default the camera settings.

If any of these won't help, I suggest you should go to a specialised service, cause the problem-more common than you think- could be serious.
Good luck Smitty

Canon Powershot A610 won't power-up

My camera stopped working some time later after being dropped.
If you are brave (or desperate), try this... I found it was not too difficult to open the camera up. Take all the screws from the bottom, sides and under the card and usb, and inside the battery compartment. They are all different lengths so keep some record of what goes where. Then I made sure the multiway connector underneath the top was firmly in place. That was all I could see that I could fix myself. And what luck! when I put it back together it worked.

No power

Directly from Kodak's website:

IMPORTANT
We recommend that you do not use alkaline batteries in EasyShare cameras because they may cause unexpected shutdowns and loss of pictures.

Switch on - Switch off! Coolpix3100

Coolpix uses SD cards, not CF. Anyway, try using the camera without memory card, only with internal memory. If it works, then replace memory card.

Camera was dropped and is not on

Take batteries out and have them checked, and make sure they are fully charged. Take a pencil eraser and clean/polish the contacts at base of the battery compartment Take a look at the battery-comp cover place and make sure the contact plate is firm replace batteries switch on OK No? Open the battery compartment, place a piece of foil across the batteries and shut it - turn on -OK No? Press the cover in OK No? Them it has broken beyond your reach and needs repair or replacement
