Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

I have a Carrier Standard Programmable Thermostat dual zone system heating / ac. I just moved in a month ago, and have inherited this system. At least once a day I find the 'time' display flashing on at least 1 of the 2 thermostats, as if power was lost. I can't find anywhere in the manual as to why this happens. Is it really because of lost power? If so, why is this happening?

Carrier OEM to Honeywell Programmable Tstat - NEED HELP

you likely have a "two stage" system, but not a two stage heat pump. the first stage is probably the heat pump itself, and the second stage is the auxilliary resistance heat that suppliments the heat pump at lower temps. if i knew the terminals that are available on the new stat, i could advise you on the proper wiring.

Is this a heat pump? Look in the thermostat. You should have something like the following.
Red wire to R terminal
Green wire to G terminal
Yellow wire to Y terminal
White wire to W or W1
Blue or Orange wire to the O or B terminal
Brown wire to C terminal.

Let me know what you have in the thermostat. The wire colors are not always the same.

Valve replaced , but 1 zone out of 3 no heat when

Hello. Each zone in you home has one thermostat controlling one zone valve. Generally, when a thermostat is calling for heat the zone valve opens and the circulating pump comes on to move the water around that loop. If your other two zones are both working as they should and you now have a new zone valve on the third loop I would suspect that the thermostat is faulty. Regards, Joe

Wiring Hunter Thermostat to 6 wire Carrier fa4bnf036

you probably purchased a 4 wire thermostat which we call heat/cool you stated you have 6 wires which signifies a heat pump you have to purcahase a heat pump thermostat and then write down the color of the wires to there related spots example...yellowe-y red-r white- w and so forth also before you do this kill the power the voltage typical for residential is only 24v's but if the wires touch you could blow a fuse

It is possible the relay on the zone board is bad, You can test the thermostat if you own a voltage meter. It is possible for the thermostat to display and still be bad.
