Question about Panasonic PT-51HX41 51" Rear Projection Television

Sound but no picture!

Hi slinterior
i took off the three plugs from the board that were red, blue, green and i assume that these were the convergence plugs you were talking about. the tubes on the bottom of the tv still glows and nothing is produced from the three lenses and when you look at the front of the set, there is no channel indicator nor is the menu format lit up on the screen, the set worked perfect before taking it apart except for the set turning off within 45 minutes and the picture not converged properly. can you give me any more info?
thanks
denny

thank you very much for the help getting video back on my pt51hx41e. i checked all wires and made sure they were in the proper socket. i then took the board out to check my solder job which looked pretty good. there is a small board on top of the board that i replaced the convergence amps on and that board was loose and not plugged properly. i made sure that it was attached properly and installed it back into the tv and it works! thank you very much for the help.

I have tried changing the tv input but it doesnt work all i can hear it the white noise until i reach the input and i can then hear the sound of the TV but i cant see the picture. I oppened from the back i i saw 3 lamps on the bottom. They are all glowing but that about it. Has anyone had the same problem? PS I tried to put the tv on a table so i was taller but i couldn't lift it allt he way because it was to heavy. ALL i did was lift one side about 30 degrees and put it gently back on the floor. Did i screwed something by trying to lift it from one side?

I would double check the wire connections especially the bridged connectors that connect the A and D boards also see if the wire from the front panel PCB is actually hooked up. Often its easy to get a wire plug mixed up and plugged into the wrong socket or not seated properly.

Red, Green convergence lines are wavy

Projection TV sets have two very common problems listed below.

Problem #1) Convergence

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

RED CONVERGENCE SCREEN PATTERN BOWING AND CAN'T ADJUST

The most likely cause is shorted convergence chips and possibly a few pico fuses.

Rca 52in rear projection hdtv red, blue, and green lines n double

tHIS is a convergence problem.. first question if you go into the customer setup menu. is the convergence option listed? If you have not got that option i suggest you read "the fl231 problem in the tips and trick section of this website. this can be a simple inexpensive repair..if you do have the convergence option then it can be one of three diffrent boards convergence power, convergence amp or small signal board. and will need further trouble shooting

The colors are distorted and it seems like the only colors that really show are blue, green, and red. When you turn the TV on you can see blue, green, and red lines across the screen. The picture also...

Hi there, this is what we call in the industry convergence board failure. this board regulate the rgb and keeps everything in order so the picture looks nice and clean. when this board starts to malfunction, what you are witnessing is usually the result. I suggest repairing this convergence board. this will fix the 3-d effect.

Screen lookes like colores separating

This is what is known as convergence. a projection tube ussally has three picture tubes.. red green blue. they all have to align. the concave picture indicates complete loss of convergence or convegence power supply. First question on these sets Do you have the convergence option in the customer menu under setup. if you do not this is a indication of the common "FL231 fuse problem" and inexpensive simple repair. I have wrote and artilcle on this under my tips and trick section. If you do have the option then next does autoconvergence work. in you case i would not think it work. under blue and red manual convergence does the crosshairs move. if not then this is indication of convergence power supply board. if they move at all this may indicate a convergence amplifer problem.

This is a Common problem, you have shorted convergence amplifiers, some of these have a small board that is mounted behind the CRT's with a red plug/blue wire, these are incredibly easy to replace, some samsungs have the convergence circuits mounted on two tall heatsinks on a big board with the high voltage transformer (has 3 big red leads comming out of it) and requires alot more work to replace, if you are uncertian I would call the repair man, you can look to spend around $350-500 I would suspect, if you call someone might ask what convergence board replacement would cost.
