Question about GoVideo HT2030 System

Open Question

Rio HT2030 Cannot get sound from 2ch DVDs (older movies or kids shows) yet newer dvds play just fine. I have messed around and searched for answers to no avail. Seems like a software issue. Help please. JD

SOURCE: How do I connect my

This is going to depend on your preference. But the easiest way is to go get a fiber-optic cable and hook from the audio out on the tv to the audio in on the Rio. The cables are not that expensive anymore. And they are worth every cent. They are super easy to install and get a lot better sound quality.

The dvd has started playing everything green. We never record and have only played about 25 dvds in it.

Sounds like the settings for the dvd output have been changed. Need to have it re-calibrated.

We can't hear spoken audio on our recent dvds (movies), only the music. Some of the the older movies are fine.

Your center channel speaker is not working. In modern 5.1 movies dialogue only comes from the center channel. Older movies were stereo/mono so the dialogue would come from both the front speakers.
See if the speaker wires are intact and not loose. After that to confirm if the speaker is OK or defective exchange the center speaker with one of the working ones.If the center speaker does not produce sound, you will have to replace it. But if it works, that would mean that your center channel amplifier is not working & for that you will need professional help.

Certain dvds lose the surround sound

if you are playing older or burnt dvds then chances are they were recorded using only 2 channel or stereo instead of 5.1,6.1 or 7.1 hope this is your solution

Not playing voice but playing music/surround

sounds like you may have a dodgy scart lead.check that none of the pins are loose/damaged. Also check the sound settings on the tv, it may have reset itself to the default sound setting. Or it might just be the audio settings on your dvd player have been adjusted, almost all dvd movies have there own audio adjustments.

Unable to read/play DVDs

You may have a dirty laser lens on the slider assembly. If you clean this little lens, and the problem still happens, it is an indication that the laser is getting weak and it may be time to start looking around for a new player/recorder. Good Luck
