Re: no picture no sound with ps3
Make sure you are using the cables that came with the PS3 and not the ones from the Xbox. Use your remote to go to the settings and into the 'display' section. Select 'HDMI' and then use the auto detect option if it is present.
If this does not work, try resetting your ps3 as this can sometimes help. You can do so by holding down the power button for about 5 seconds until it beeps and it will restore the console to its factory settings.
You could have burn out the soldering so if you have a receipt you better take it back but if you don't you could go on to sonys main
webb and fin the ps3 help line number then you should call them
and they will go throw making sure your ps3 is dead and if it dose
not work they will bring you a new one

The PS3 can be hooked up to the tv using either a HDMI cable or the old RCA (Yellow, Red, White) cables. If you are having problems viewing a picture or hearing sound, here is some trouble shooting you might want to try.
Connect the PS3 using both the HDMI and RCA cables. select the HDMI input on your tv. turn on the PS3. If you cant see a picture, press and hold the power button until you hear 2 beeps (this will take about 15 seconds). This resets the PS3 to the old RCA cables. Select the RCA input on your tv. Hopefully you can see the image and hear the PS3 now. Go to the settings on the PS3 and change the display settings to output video through the HDMI. Remember, your tv can only go as high as 1080i resolution, so you wont see anything if you select the 1080p resolution.
If this didn't work, you might have a bad signal though the HDMI cable. Unplug the tv and PS3 for atleast 30 minutes, and then connect the PS3 to the tv before you turn either one on.
If this doesn't help, then you might have a HDMI cable that isn't recognized by either your PS3 or your tv. Try replacing your HDMI cable.
If the PS3 was hooked up to another TV, perhaps with the HDMI, the PS3 needs to be reset. With the PS3 off, press and hold the Power button for approx. 10-15 seconds until it beeps again. This should provide picture/sound through the A/V cable. Hope this helps.
you need to configure both to hdmi or not to hdmi in order to get any picture out whatsoever on the xbox its a switch on the video and for ps3 it needs to be done in the settings but they both need to be done before changing tvs otherwise
If it works on other televisions, than the video cord must be good. Is the television on the right input channel? If it is, the video input may be bad. You should test the video input with a dvd player or vcr. You can always plug ps3 into a vcr, and vcr up to televison.
the best configuration is using component AudioVideo cable.component video out from ps3 use 3 wires going to component video input to your tv (Y-Pb-Pr) and two wires for audio left.right. use av1 input on your tv to hook the audio and video. let me know if you still have issue.
