Can log onto everything-except yahoo. Tech took me thru everything you suggested.Still get host down--9 times out of ten. had to do an emergency tranfer of contacts to a new host. After explaination--what more can I do??? Blame is being pasted back and force--willing to give the benefit of the doubt

I just helped another person with what is sounding like a common issue, the only difference is they were reporting that the page would come up with page cannot be displayed and their home page had changed to a websearch page. It seemed to me that they had malware that was hijacking their preferences so I directed them to download the coolwebsearch removal tool from trend micro. I'll give you that link too, it's totally worth a shot because it's small and runs quick and it's better to get that possible problem out of the way. Download and run the program below, choose to fix right away as opposed to scan and if it tells you to reboot do it right away.
http://us.trendmicro.com/us/products/personal/CWShredder/

If it doesn't detect anything we're going to have to take the troubleshooting up a notch.
So if that doesn't fix it we need to see if another malware program is redirecting you so you cannot get to yahoo. Go to c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc and open the hosts file. A standard generic hosts file usually only contains this:
# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
127.0.0.1 localhost

There may be a few lines below the localhost entry but if you see any references to www.yahoo.com then we know you have some really bad malware and need to run a good spyware removal tool. For that I recommend Spybot Search and Destroy and Ad-Aware. I don't really trust anything else really.

If that doesn't work the last thing I can suggest is trying to reach the website by IP address. Go to start>run>type cmd then hit enter. In the command window type ping www.yahoo.com and it should return the IP address. Type that into the address bar in your web browser and hit enter. If it gets to yahoo then you have a DNS issue. Let me know if that is what happens and I'll send you the instructions to change the DNS address on your network card.

I am not able to signin my yahoo account.i forgot my password and other security questions information..and my id is meets108@yahoo.com plz solve this

Hi there,

I'm afraid you can no longer retrieve your yahoo account if you already went thru the "Forget password" functionality and forgot the answer to security questions and other information. Yahoo is very strict with this policy for security purposes. You just have to create a new yahoo account and take note of the entries you are going to type in those fields especially the password.

Am unable to participate in Yahoo messenger chat. I see my friends on-line. They send me an invitation to chat but I am frozen. I cannot type anything back.Just downloaded it yesterday. Everything else...

I would if it was me save the list of your contacts by Yahoo names etc and REMOVE THE messenger program from your computer--

Try a fresh install--something may not have gone right when you did it---If you want to test if yours is working give me your IM name--I have messenger and will be able to see if yours works or not---you will be able to respond if it does not work by commenting on this solution.

I suspect either a glitch or it did not install correctly.

My yahoo mail is blank and not responding, although I signed in.

If you are on a LAN see if you can have another computer to be used to access your mail. If the computer works you may need to check the settings of your browser or may need to install some plugins. If both computers would not work, have the router checked. It may be blocking some data.

We have noticed that the tech support numbers no longer work, I think the office closed. from your description I think you have to reload the firmware, the only way to do this is to get the upgrade dvd. if you email me at vince954@yahoo.com I will see if I can help.
