Assuming you have made sure nothing is muted. I would first go the manufacturer website of the sound card and download current drivers for the model you have which you can find out in device manager...you can right click on my computer and the left click on manage> then device manager> if you do not see any red X's or yellow esclamation marks go down the list to 'sound, video, and game controllers".> click on the that to expand it and then right click on the sound controllers and uninstall it and restart the pc it will refind the audio controllers and install the drivers.

My computer is on mute, and the youtube videos dont have sound.every time i put sound on the video, it says mute, and every time i lower the volume all the way, it unmutes.

The YouTube video controls the output sound-level that it provides to your computer.
But, if you "mute" your computer, the sound-level is ignored.

When you "unmute" your computer, then the sound-level control on the video will control the volume of the current video.

I have a 9090 receiver that powers on but no sound output. this happened before about 20 years ago and it was a simple fix but i dont remember what it was

Was the 'fix' a hardware repair or a switch position? You should at least remember that.

NEVER USE MAXIMUM VOLUME FOR TROUBLESHOOTING.

Turn the volume control to something medium.

The errant switch, control or condition may change and you will suddenly release the amp's full power and possibly destroying your speakers. If a signal isn't audible at 1/2 volume it's probably not there.

Carefully examine the front panel for clues like a misplaced Mute or Tape Monitor control selected.

There is a good chance that a common control may have developed a high-resistance or 'dead' spot through defect or idleness and is causing your symptom. Turn the POWER OFF and operate every control throughout its range a number of times, especially rarely-used ones like Tape Monitors and the Mute control.

Turn the volume to something reasonable and see if that helped.

Trying to hook up the polk speakers to my hp pavilion mx70, but no audio is coming out when i connect the color coordinated wires to their correct spots

First try connecting headphones to the output to confirm there is an output. If there is , then your external speakers may be faulty or require power. If there is no output on the headphones then check your volume settings.

The low frequencies adjustment is not working when i turn the sub frequency on low it lowers the volume of the bass completely

check the rca cables on the back to see if you might have the sub woofer cable in wrong rca spot

this is how it should be wired from your radio front output a set of rca cables go to the radio input of the eq. if you have sub out on radio it will not be used ... eq takes place of it ... turn off subout on radio ... to use eq or preamp you must have at 2 amps 1 for mids and tweets and 1 for subs to work eq right

then from the eq you have another set of rca cables comming from the front output to your mids and tweet amp and then if you dont have a second amp u wont need rear output move over to the suboutput and run a set of rca cables from eq's sub output to sub amp this is how the audio cable section should be connected if you still dont get it to work proper then then it has a electronic issue and need to warranted out if still in warranty or buy new one .... here is a link to the install manual with a wire diagram for repair shop .....http://www.poweracoustik.com/pa2006/manual%20and%20catalog/Processors/PWM-20.pdf

Volume control of system output is not stable with sudden high volume output bursts. Any ideas?

Sounds like a faulty / worn fader. If it does it on all channels then look at the master fader 1st.

I cant auto tune my yamaha rx v 365 reciver because i get an error saying that i dont have my speakers connected even though i know they are and working just fine.

1.Check you select the good set of speakers according to the connections you made at speakers output.
2.Have the soldering of your power output IC module remaked (by a technician only).

Hear sound but cant get any real volume even at full blast

I was playing around with my Sherwood RD 6513 and adjust the the output level to its maximum, amongst other settings. This limited my output on the amp to a maximum volume of 65 not 90+.. Anyway i pluged in the microphone and done another 'auto setup' of the volume levels and distances, and this allowed the volume to exceed 65 again!

Also if you have an external source such as a DVD player - i would assume you have already checked its output volume setting?
