Assuming you have made sure nothing is muted. I would first go the manufacturer website of the sound card and download current drivers for the model you have which you can find out in device can right click on my computer and the left click on manage> then device manager> if you do not see any red X's or yellow esclamation marks go down the list to 'sound, video, and game controllers".> click on the that to expand it and then right click on the sound controllers and uninstall it and restart the pc it will refind the audio controllers and install the drivers.

What does it mean when my desktop computer is stuck on a blue screen with with dots going in a circle?

Means you are in deep doo doo. Either you have a corrupt OS or have a bad peripheral that is preventing proper bootup sequence.

I dont remember my password

Unless you can find some sort of software to bypass the issue you are in deep doo doo.

However, if I remember correctly, there is some software that is available on the Hirem disk that will allow you to get into your computer. But you have to go through the procedure every time to get in. Check it out.

And if you do not want the additional step(s) you might just have to suck it up and reload the entire unit from scratch.

The question is kind of vague. Things to check are: check to see if the volume is turned down or muted on your pc. If you click on the little speaker on the lower right corner of the screen (by the time) that will bring up your audio properties make sure that the mute check box is NOT selected and volume is up. If you have external speakers make sure that they are plugged into the speaker output (Green Jack) and not the mic output (Red Jack). Also make sure that if your speakers are powered they are plugged into an outlet. Make sure that the volume is also turned up on the speakers.

Hi i dont know why i hadnt touched my sound settings apart from the volume level. but the next day when i tried to listen to music i noticed it wasnt working. i hadnt turned computer off it was working...

First of all restart your computer and then check if the sound comes back? In case not check the following:

Click Start, select Run, type "services.msc" without the quotes and press Ok. Services window will open up. In that window, select the Windows Audio Service and the status and startup type of the same. In case the startup type is disabled, double click on it and select the startup type as Automatic. After that right click on this service and click Start. In case the Start is greyed out, click on Restart. Now check for the sound.

In case the above step also not work, you will need to reinstall the drivers of sound card.

Please post a comment in case none of the above solutions work. We shall provide the next steps to fix this.

Speakers are plugged in correctly, lights on but still no sound

Check your output jack again and make sure its on the green jack
and also check your speaker wires, if okay then check this;

For Windows XP;
  1. Go to Control Panel
  2. Sounds and Audio Devices
  3. On the Volume tab under "Device volume" check that sound is NOT muted
  4. Adjust volume control
  5. Check "Speaker Setup" under "Speaker settings" under the "Advanced" button
For Vista:
  1. Control Panel
  2. Sounds
  3. Select Speakers then properties
  4. Make sure device is enabled
  5. Test sound
  6. Adjust volume controls
Under Device Manager make sure that under your sound card that you dont have a yellow exclamation. Yellow exclamation indicates you need to install the correct driver.

can u see a speaker or volume icon at the tray, where the clock exists.
if yes, then click on it and check the pin that goes to cpu for speakers.

if you cant see the icon then check the installation of sound card from:
right click to "my computer" go to properties--->hardware---->device manager---->then check in sound, game controller, if u have the availibility of sound card there,

if u have an extra sound card installed on PCI slot in the motherboard then fix the card properly or reinstall it properly..

hope it will help so dont forget to rate it .
dont hesitate to ask further

Hardly any sound.

In the bottom right hand corner of screen their is a picture of a speaker right click on this with the mouse it will say open volume control and that lets you adjust the volume if this still dont affect the volume then right click again then click properties then if your using external speakers then click on this and you can then adjust the volume of speakers if this still dot work then your sound card could need replacing.
If your only using the speaker in the base then the volume setting will alter this if your using external speakers then the properties will alter this
Let me know how you get on ok
