Question about Gateway 6022GZ Notebook

Black screen, no boot

GateWay Model 6022GZ 
Press power, button lights up and fan runs. No boot-up, screen remains black. 
Have tried with power adapter only, with battery only, and with both Batt & pwr adapter. Batt only - has blue light, Pwr adpt only - has red light. 
DVOM meter shows 19.2 VDC @ correct polarity from pwr adapter.

Black screen no cursor no keyboard use


When you powered on the machine did you hear any beeps, hear the fan running, the disk drive running, lights blinking, hear the cd drive click, see the light on the cd drive door for a second or two when it clicks? If these things are happening you are getting power. If not, your problem might be with your power supply, hard drive or motherboard. Remove the power cord, then press and hold the power button for 30 seconds, then plug it back in and press the power button. if it boots you had a static charge. If you get nothing at all but a silent system your power supply is bad. If it sounds like your computer is running but you can't see anything on the screen you might have a problem with your screen or video card. If you have another monitor try using it and see what happens. if it works so you can see things then your monitor was bad. If it does not work with another monitor but you still hear fans, and see lights and hear the disk drive spinning, then your video card is probably bad.

Computer will power up but not boot. Screen remains black. Battery charges.


If the screen's backlight doesn't come on at all, that's a new screen. You can find more from Gateway's support website. If the screen lights up but stays completely black, that's a motherboard issue, same fix. If the Gateway logo comes up but never goes into windows, that's most likely a hard drive issue, same fix. If you see an error message from Windows, that's a Windows issue. You could use the recovery DVDs that came with the system to fix that. Just put them in and turn the computer on. Press F8 repeatedly until you see an option to boot to DVD. Then follow the instructions.

Does not boot up, fans start, internet plugs light, clicks on and off.....seems this is a common problem for these machines, what is the fix?


Instructions
  1. When you press the Power button to start the boot process, the LED lights glow while the computer verifies that there is sufficient electrical power to activate the hardware.

    Effect & Solution: When you press the power button, the LED lights on the computer do not glow or the LEDs blink briefly and then stop. There is no sound of the fan or hard drive spinning, and the screen remains blank. The computer will not start if there is insufficient battery or AC adapter power.
  2. The BIOS queries various hardware components used for the startup boot process.

    Effect & Solution: When you press the power button, the LEDs glow but there is no fan or hard drive sound. The LEDs may glow briefly and then go out.

    Or

    The LED lights blink, stop, and then blink a second or third time, but there is no sound from the computer and the screen remains blank. The sequence of the blinking lights indicates a specific error code.

    Or

    A series of beeping tones is heard. The sequence of beeping tones indicate a specific error code.

    If a hardware component has recently been replaced, or if the PC has been jarred or shaken, there may be a loose connection to the memory chips or hard drive which prevents the computer from starting.
  3. The BIOS loads the basic input (keyboard) and output (advanced LEDs / display screen / boot drives) devices into memory.

    Effect & Solution: When you press the power button, the LEDs glow, the fan or hard drive sounds, are heard, but then the boot process stops and a black screen - with an error message - displays.

    The boot check has detected a communication error or conflict with a hardware component that must be corrected.
  4. The BIOS loads the Windows operating system and starts the services that allow low-level control of all of the background operations.

    Effect & Solution: When you press the power button, the LEDs glow, the fan or hard drive sounds, are heard, the HP or Compaq Logo displays on a black screen, but then the boot process stops and a blue screen - with an error message - displays.

    The boot check has detected a hardware driver error or a software conflict that must be corrected.
  5. Control is transferred to the Windows loader to initiate the display of the advanced settings in the Windows environment.

    The Windows logo displays during this step.

    Effect & Solution: When you press the power button, the computer performs all the steps in the boot process, but after the Windows Logo displays, the moving Windows progress bar or the rotating cursor stops moving and the boot process stops.

    An error message may display on a screen with the Windows logo. In some instances, there is no specific error message.

    Or

    A black screen appears and the computer attempts to restart.

    The Windows self-check has detected a software conflict that must be corrected.

if your harddisk is ok than , u open your notebook motherboard and clean processor fan properly,,than again fitting your laptop than boot from cd rom (make sure that your cd rom is ok )

Yes, if the CPU/motherboard will not POST (Power On Self Test), then changing the CPU is the only thing that you have not tried.

Toshiba A75 Wont Boot up


It sounds like you may not have made a good connection to the motherboard from the screen when you put everything back together.

When you press the power button does the screen come on and then go off or does it not come on at all ?

If it comes on then turns off try to eject the CD-Rom that will be a definitive test of whether your power is still on, assuming your cd-rom is not totally mechanical.

Laptop not booting up, fan and disc drive are recieving powrer and all indication lights are working but the screen remains black.


You might need to reset your Hard Drive and RAM.. You can open the portion of your hard drive and RAM easily and then take it out and insert it again... and then try to boot up.. ya dont forget to take out battery before you take out other stuff.....

The other solution is take out your battery and then press your power button and keep holding it for atleast one minute.. it will reset your motherboard to default settings...
