LP GAS ODOR WHEN USING OVEN

WE HAVE HAD A GE XL44 STOVE FOR ABOUT 12 YEARS AND HAVE ALWAYS HAD A PROBLEM WITH LP GAS ODOR WHEN USING THE OVEN. WE HAVE HAD TO USE THE EXHAUST FAN WHENEVER THE OVEN IS ON. WE HAD A REPAIR MAN LOOK AT IT AND HE COULD NOT TELL US WHAT THE PROBLEM IS.

THANK YOU FOR ANY ASSISTANCE,
BJ

I have the same oven and am having the same problem, I have been told when the LP tank is getting low it will start to stink. Mine comes and goes but more predominantly in the cooler seasons, I am going to have the propane company come up and look

Same problem on a different oven. Brand new oven so also wondering... I know he changed out the orifice in each top burner, should it had been changed in the oven for propane also? The flame seems very yellow. Never had a gas range before so this is all new. We will try tightening the orifice down. Thanks for your help.

Sounds like you need to take the drawer out and tiighten the orifice down. some say tighten it all the way down and back it off 2 turns. if you do that and still have a problem then you may have a problem with carbon build up in the bake burner, let me know if you need further assistance

I have a GE XL44 and i need to change it over to lp. none of the orifices for LP are with the stove. Where can i get them and what do i need to do with the oven?

Repairclinc.com has LP orifice spuds listed for about $1.80 a piece. The item number is 1263006. Appliancepartspros.com also has them listed for about $1.63 a piece. The part number is AP3994353. You need to purchase one for each surface burner.

As for the oven. Turn the gas supply off and locate the pressure regulator. Remove the cap on the regulator and remove the orifice fitting inside. Flip the orifice over and reinsert it. Place the cap back on the regulator and it is now ready for LP use.

If you have any questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

My GE XL44 Gas Range (Model JGBP34 GEP 1A) control

If you like the stove and it in good shape otherwise, have it fixed. The parts are still available. The stove in good used condition (without leak) is probably worth $75.00. May cost that much to repair it. Will cost approximately $450.00 to replace it with equal range. If it's a standing pilot model (no electricity needed) they are unavailable and your new range will require power to use the oven. Hope this helps.

GE XL44 oven does not heat

12 years old? If it is a gas rnge yo need to get a gas technician out to fix it. I would probably say it s time for a new one. Hers is a couple of things to think of when getting a new stove. 1) Everyone wants a self clean. But 90% never self clean. can save up to $200 w/o that option. 2) 80% off people buy a stovebased on looks. A stove may not be pretty but work just as good as one that is.
