Cannot get magenta to print. After several deep cleanings I now get the message "Waste Ink Near Full." I just put in a new cartridge put out by Staples compatible with Canon BCI-6M. I had a cannon cartridge in my printer but it didn't print either. I need help fixing this problem.

<Remedy> 1.Waste ink absorber Use SERVICE MODE>COUNTER>PRINTER>W-INK to check the waste ink absorber. Replace if the waste ink level is near the limit (14400). After replacing the tank, perform SERVICE MODE>INITIALIZE>W-INK.
Inkjet printers have a fibrous pad inside them that collects the waste
ink from cleaning the print head. Over time, this pad fills up with ink
and can no longer hold any more. When this occurs, the printer
indicates a "waste ink tank full" error.
the waste ink absorption pads is something an authorized canon service
facility can take care of for you. Once they are replaced,
it'll be functional again.
Hi! The printer counts every single droplet ejected by the print head due to waste ink absorber capacity. When the waste ink counter rise to about 90 % the printer shows message 'Waste Ink Absorber Near Full'; in this stage we can still continue printing by pressing Resume button until waste ink absorber capacity reach 100% and 'Waste Ink Absorber is Full' appears. To fix this problem you have to reset waste ink counter to 0%. Even though we can just reset waste ink counter without resetting waste ink counter, it strongly recommended that you replace waste ink absorber to prevent ink flooding inside the printer. To reset waste ink counter, perform the following steps:
Plug in power cable
While pressing Resume button press and hold Power button (do nor release the buttons)
Release Resume button (still hold Power button)
Press Resume button twice in a row (still hold Power button), after that release both Resume and Power button (then the printer standing bye)
Press Resume button 4 times then turn off the printer
In this stage your printer has operated as usual. Regards,
hi i am a certified Canon repair tech on this model. when the waste message comes up this means that the waste absorbers in the bottom of the machine need to be replaced. just clearing the error and not replacing them will cause the waste ink to over fill and backup into the machines printing area smugging the print. there are Canon repair centers privately owned that can replace the waste absorbers and clean the machine. the average cannot take this machine apart into peices to clean it. The waste absorbers are fairly cheap but the labor to do this will vary from shop to shop. hope this helps clarify the problem.
