How do I fix ADS Instant HDTV PCI on my Toshiba?

I am having problems with the sound on my Toshiba Satellite P105 S6227, I have none. When I go into Device Manager the ADS Instant HDTV PCI has an ! by it. I try to download the driver for it and it says the driver is up to date, then when I try to choose from the two driver choices it says it can't be done because it encountered a problem and the device could not install then it has a code 10. I have tried using the disk that came with the computer, I have gone on Ads Tech Inc website to see if there are any drivers for this, but there are none. I have spent hours online trying to find a driver for this thing, but all I keep finding are sites wanting me to buy their service that is supposed to solve my problem. I really don't want to spend money on something I don't know for sure will fix my problem as I have been fooled before and spent good money for nothing. I went on Microsoft and found nothing and Toshiba's site and also found nothing. HELP I am at wits end, our computer is no fun without any sound. If I don't get this fixed soon, I'm afraid I am going to throw it out the window!

    I've got the same problem m8! Still no answer on my (and from many more people) question! :'( *crying*.
    I need the sound! I am a dj & producer!!!!!!!!!

For my Toshiba laptop that had this error, I had to go to the Toshiba Europe site

In order to find the drivers that would fix this problem.

Itseems that there was a Vista (and possibly XP) upgrade that broke aConnexant sound driver. The US/Canandian support sites have an olddriver(3.44) while the European site has a brand spanking new driver(4.8.0.0.12.14) that fixed the problem for me. It's even labeled as a"World Wide" driver so I have no idea why the US/Canadian toshibasupport sites still have the old one.

Your Graphics Adapter may be bad. You didn't post the results of the screen testing in another laptop? Did the screen work? Has the laptop been overheating due to dust build up in the fan, vents, heatsink? Has the Thermal Paste degraded/overheating causing a failure of the Graphics Adapter? When you boot does the HDD blink? Sound? Fan spins? Just no monitor? Any damage? drop? Possible loose connection of the Graphics?

Reads like you have a hardware system fault. Check your RAM chips are seated properly and test your HDD using a linux liveCD and running diagnostics tests (UBCD4Win is good for this too).
The other task would be to update/reflash the BIOS.

Leave battery out and use power supply, if that works battery is faulty. If not it maybe a hardware fault. Do you hear a beep when it starts?? If not could be faulty ram / video / mobo.

I have vertical lines (15 of them now) on my Toshiba laptop.


I'm afraid when you see vertical line on an lcd panel, it most likely is screen failure. Ebay has plenty of screen from good companies in Texas. I get most of my screens from Ebay store LCDTECH99. They have the best prices, most screens are under 100 bucks and they ship right away. The Toshiba screen is an easy repair, Only the bezel needs to be removed in most cases. Below is a guide to show the process.

No sound


Have you performed any windows updates right B4 you lost sound? if so try uninstalling them, or try Rolling back the driver to an older version if available, and test for sound through headphones as well as speakers if one plays and not the other its a different issue

try to boot in safe mode when prompted on startup when u forcibly shut down ur operating sys it will present u with a screen to select safe mode on startup just go thru safe mode and try using system restore in the Start> All programs> accessories>system tools>system restore try to restore on the earlier date when ur sys was ok see if it helps pls vote if u think i was helpful

Driver for my Toshiba ( windows XP )


go to http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/t...su_sc_home.jsp click downloads naviage to your model and click go then change fliter to xp and you have all the drivers.
