There's a setting under "initial setting", it allows you to adjust the talking caller-id setting on the base station. It bugged me for a while as well....having the base shouting the callers number as I was saying hello.
You have to press "Menu" "#" then 1 6 2.
You can also just press menu and then scroll to talking caller id, select it and then choose to turn it off. Be sure to press "save" or the your choice will not be saved.
I dont know what your talking about i love the talking caller id on my panasonic lol its kewl like im somewhere in the house and i just hear who is calling dont even have to go unstairs or inside to answer but anyways. Theres 2 options. One is when you go to the menu(Thats only for the handset). You also have to go to the menu and then the initial settings and look for an option somewhere there like base settings or something
Page 25 of the owners manual says you can turn off talking caller id separately for the handset and base unit. For the handset, press [MENU], scroll to "Talk Caller ID" by pressing the down or up arrows, then press Select, then select "off" or "on", then press Save, then Off.
For the Handset, press [MENU], then scrol to "Initial setting", then press Select. Scroll to "Set base unit", press Select. Scroll to "Talk Caller ID", then press Select. Select "Off" or "On" by pressing up or down arrows.
This is the info from the users manual, it seems a bit strange, but claims if you set the number of rings before it answers, (for the answering system) to "2" it will stop the audible caller ID. Here it is from the manual.
If you turn on the answering system and set the number of rings “2” (page 38), the unit does not announce the caller information. If “Toll saver” is selected and there is a new message, the unit does not announce the caller information. When you receive a call while on the phone, the 2nd caller’s name is not announced even if you subscribe to both Caller ID and Call Waiting with Caller ID services
To turn Talking Caller ID on or off You can turn Talking Caller ID on or off for the handset and base unit separately. If this feature is off, the unit will not announce caller names. The factory preset is ON. Handset Talking Caller ID feature 1 Press [MENU]. 2 Scroll to “Talk Caller ID” by pressing [d] or [B], then press Select. 3 Select “Off” or “On” by pressing [d] or [B]. 4 Press Save, then press [OFF].
