The dryer isn't getting hot - Dryers

My LG gas dryer (dLG 2532w) heats up a little for the first minute or two but then cools off and doesn't heat any more. Also, the "check filter" light goes on when I turn on the power but shuts off when i select and start a cycle. Any Ideas?

The dryer isn't getting hot

Here's a good troubleshooting article on them:
http://www.ehow.com/way_5389575_troubleshooting-kenmore-series-dryer.html

Keep in mind, it is an older dryer, but that series is known for being really good. If the article doesn't check out, I would suggest calling in a technician as it's possible something got damaged in the move/

Does Not Shut Off

1st go the the house breaker (dbl breaker) for the dryer and shut it off and turn it back on, your dryer runs on 220 volts of power but if the breaker is partially tripped it may be only running on 110 volts which is only enough power to turn the lights on and to turn the drum the element needs 220 volts to turn on. If it still doesn't heat after resetting the breaker then you may need a heating element or thermostat. The dryer isn't shutting off because it isn't detecting the clothes are getting dry so once you fix your heating problem the dryer should start shutting off on its own again.

The dryer isn't drying. The top an the control panel are very hot to the touch.

Hello Rodney.
What the most probable trouble with the dryer making it very hot to the touch while at the same time not drying is a poor air flow problem. That could a be a broken blower wheel,a blocked or restricted vent.

The dryer gets hot, but has a burning smell and this load isn't drying?

Hi,

If your dryer is not drying like it once did or if you just have nottaken the time to give yourself a clean dryer in a long time then youneed to do that. At least once a year the dryer cleaning should takeplace. Lint build up in the dryer duct is one of the main causesfor your dryer to fail.

Dryer will get hot but will not dry clothes

If the dryer gets hot, but not drying the clothes my first question would be if the drum is turning or not. If not then I would check the belt and make sure it isn't busted. Then I would check to make sure that your exhause hose is not clogged up. If so clean out.

But if that isn't the problem then I would check the blower assembly.

Clothes are real hot to the touch

sounds like you have a venting problem,, check for clogs or blockage in the vent pipe,, and also at the exit from the house to be sure the vent cover flows freely and isn't smashed down. check inside this vent to be sure the flap inside of it moves freely and isn't stuck,, Normally when clothes get hot to the touch its caused by the clothes heating up to dry and the moisture isn't allowed to be vented out
