I need to reset my Dell Inspiron B130 to factory setting

I recently had my Dell laptop Inspiron B130 reformatted since I was experiencing slow performance. The technician didn't use DELL PC RESTORE BY SYMANTEC in reformatting but used a different installer. Since I prefer my original settings, can I still use the Dell PC Restore after I already had my laptop reformatted? Or was the DELL PC RESOTORE erased when it was reformatted? I tried pressing and when the DELL screen appears during the boot process but nothing seems to happen. Please help.

NOTE: I transferred all my files to an external memory before I had it reformatted.

Using PC Restore in Windows XP or Media Center
I need to reset my - new_notice.jpg Notice: Restoring the original factory image erases ALL existing data. This includes files, folders, programs, drivers, E-mails, photos. Before performing a PC Restore, back up all personal files. If you do not back up your personal files, the data will be lost.
1 Turn on the computer.
2 When the Dell splash screen appears during the computer startup process, press and hold <Ctrl> and then press <F11>. Then, release both keys at the same time.
3 In the Dell PC Restore by Symantec window, click Restore. Alternatively, press <Tab> to highlight Restore, and then press <Enter>.
4 When a warning message appears stating that all data will be lost, click Confirm, or press <Tab> to highlight Confirm and then press <Enter>.

The Progress window will appear. Once the restore process starts, Dell PC Restore by Symantec usually takes about 8 to 10 minutes to finish.

When the restore process is complete, the following message will appear:
The system recovery process was successful.
5 Click Finish or press <Tab> to highlight Finish and then press <Enter> to restart the computer.
The software is now installed as it was when the computer was first received.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

How do i restore a inspiron b130 to factory settings

Hello,

You may follow the below steps to perform a full factory restore:

Use an external hard drive to back up any important files on the computer as all of the data on the computer's hard drive will be erased during the restore process. Connect the hard drive to the computer via the USB cable and transfer any valuable photos, music, programs or documents into the hard drive's folder. Once all the files are copied into the folder, right-click on the hard drive's folder icon and choose "Eject."
  • Remove any other unnecessary hardware device cables connected to the computer as they maybe damaged when the computer is restored. Disconnect any scanners, USB drives, MP3 players, smart phones and the external hard drive.
  • Close any programs running on the computer and turn off the computer. Turn the power back on and hold down the "F8" key when the Dell logo appears on the screen to open the "Advanced Boot Options" screen. Make sure to complete this step before Windows loads.
  • Click on the "Dell Factory Image Recovery and DataSafe options" icon. Select the language settings for the computer and click "Next." Check the box for "Yes, reformat hard drive and restore system software to factory condition" and click on the "Next" button to begin the restore process. The computer will then erase the hard drive and restore the computer to the original factory condition. Press "Finish" to restart the computer with the factory settings restored.

  • Hope this helps..
