Ok, this is an easy fix, just go into device manager and unistall the CD/DVD,
Then Download CCleaner and clean the registry, you can download it from here:
http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/

when you have cleaned the registry restart the pc, it should now detect the CD/DVD and install the drivers for it, it will show this in the system tray (bottom righthand side where the time is)
This should resolve the problem for you
post back if you still have problems

Computer does not recognise the CD ROM drive D. When I put a CD rom in the light goes on for 2 seconds, it tries to do something and then nothing happens. What is wrong ?

the CD Rom lens may be weak, get a CD lens cleaner and use it to clean the lens.if the Cd rom is an old one you might need to change it.

try with other disk if all disk getting same issue then you have to first clean your cdrom or dvdrom lense.
For that you need disk cleaner disk pur chase it and put in rom then play it.

Wont recognise disk drive ide error

What you need to do is edit the BIOS so that the computer boots from the CD-ROM initially rather then the harddrive.

To do this follow these instructions:
1. Start the computer and tap the F2 key
2. You will now be in the computer BIOS, look for the option that says "Boot Sequence"
3. Highlight the option that shows your CD-ROM device and tap the "F5" key until it is the first one on the list
4. Hit the "Escape" key and select the option to "Exit & Save Changes".

If you restart your computer it should now boot from the CD-ROM. If you have any problems let me know and I will be more then happy to help you further troubleshoot!

How to do a system recovery when my cd rom drive doesnt work?

got to have a new cd-rom drive mate, most practical approach.

other options are network boot (done in offices with many computers), USB boot (if your BIOS supports it & you need to have a USB device with the bootable image of the system disk), etc.

If windows sees the drive in device manager you can attempt to update the firmware. To access device manager, right click on My Computer and then go to properties. Then click the Hardware tab and then the Device Manager button. Look under DVD/CD-Rom Drives and see if it's listed. If it is, then get the model information off the the drive. Sometimes it is listed in Device Manger, sometimes not, you may have to take the drive out of the PC. After you get the info, post it here and I can point you in the right direction of a firmware update.

My computer doesn`t recognise disk in dvd drive

1. Make sure you use DVD's in good condition.
2. Reinstall the driver..( right click My Computer->properties->Hardware tab -> Device manager-> DVD rom-> right click Uninstall and again install using Dvd rom driver cd)
3. Clean The Drive lens using Dvd lens cleaner disc kit available in maket.
4. Removing DVD rom. opening it up manually and cleaning the lens with cotton( this tedious for novice users.. instead give it to servicing shop)

My disk drive want work.

try to use a cd that is working before, if it does not play then you need to clean your cd rom,we have a lot of brands of lens cleaner in hte market. after cleaning try to play again the cd which were running before. if it will play then run the cd which you noticed that it won't play. if it doesn't then that is a cd issue that might be not supported by your dvd rom
