Washer fills and agitates but wil not empty or spin. I tried to bypass the lid switch and still same problem. How do I check the timer.

Hello there and thank you for choosing fixya
OK first lets get back to the basics
First investigate these things fully
It doesn't drain dot_lineone.gif 1. Clogged drain line or water pump
Check to see if there's something stuck inside the pump or the drain hose connected to the pump (pump is usually located at the bottom and towards the back of the washing machine).

2. Water Pump
If the drain line isn't clogged, you may have a problem with the water pump such as a frozen pulley or a broken impeller. If that's the case replace the water pump. Note: if you have a belt driven washer, check the belt(s) for cracks, as this would be a perfect time to replace the belt(s) if needed.

3. TIMER OR CYCLE SELECTOR
When the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem: It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer. THERE IS NO REPAIR FOR THE TIMER

It wont spin or drain. washes fine. checked the lid switch but cant tell if thats the problem or not

This is probably simply a problem with your empty pump filter being clogged. The empty cycle is timed and if it can't get all the water out in time because the debris trap/filter is blocked and slowing the empty down, then it will fail safe and won't step on to the final spin cycle with excess water in the drum.

You need to locate and clean the debris trap/filter. Depending on the model (not familiar with the model you mention) there is probably a round filter cap on the front of the machine at the bottom (It may be behind a small door or hidden behind a clip on panel on the bottom)

Go to searspartsdirect.com and type in the model number you provided. There are various exploded view diagrams of your washer that you can reference. They are broken down by section.

The trickiest part of repairing this washer is how to remove and reinstall the washer cabinet. The following link explains how to properly access the washer interior and how to properly reinstall the case when repairs are completed:

My frigidaire top loader fills with water at the beginning of the wash...then nothing. it just sits there full of water.

Hi, could be your timer motor, timer or water level switch, first push timer knob in and manually advance to wash or spin cycle (program) then pull knob, see if machine operates, let me know, then i can tell you exactly what's problem.also advance timer, to spin cycle (program) machine should pump out water, or you can lower drain hose into bucket and empty machine, you should empty machine and try again, let me know what happened, we can solved this together. good luck.

Timer knob assembly, how to disassemble and assmble back together

It sounds like the only thing you are missing is the circlip to hold the whole lot together.
With it de assembled you should see a cut out part on the timer stem that's where the circlip goes when it's all back together

I have Kenmore Elite washer (110.24942301) with bad timer, but I can't get to the timer to change it. No screws visible and no plastic caps on sides. There are plastic hinges screwed on behind the top...

Here is a link to a diagram of your control head on your washer. Make the diagram full size and zoom in, (the options to do that will be in blue on the border at the top of the diagram). Use a flat blade screw driver to push from the front on the clip, (#8 in the diagram), and the head should release and lift up. Good luck and don't forget to write back if you need further assistance and/or If I have helped you fix it! Good Luck! Click on the link below.
