Question about Pioneer SD-P50A3-K TV
We need the subtiles on, - permanantly. and they go on and off. If we use a DVD and turn on its subtitles, sometimes, when we return to the TV (with Direct TV for HDTV) the subtitles are off. This problem only occurs on the 50'' Pioneer plasma with Direct TV HD; the problem doesn't occur with other TV we own that are connect to just Direct TV. Since Direct TV doesn't reguate subtitles.
I can't find anything using the Pioneer menu screen regarding subtitles and there useage.

The intermittencies you mention are common on this
series. The PS - power supply - board needs a
virtually complete resolder op, as the solder used in
that run of units was weak and thin. It will not get
better on its own, any more than needed dental work
Send it to me and I will resolder it and send it back.
I have done so on a number of PS boards in this series,
and am running at 100% success on saving the
510/610/710 series of Pioneer Elites when all they need
is the resoldering op. There is a procedure to follow,
so contact me directly.

Un plug the power to the Plasma Screen and also to the Media Receiver for ten minutes. Disconnect the off the air antennas both A and B. After ten minutes plug in the plasma screen then the media receiver and turn on wi the remote control. You should now be back in operation. I was.
Also It may not be a bad digital tuner. The TV Guide feature is active even when the zip code is set to all 0s so if you have an over the air antenna attached the TV will look for the TV Guide info and if it can not find it because of a weak signal or the chanel it is tuned to does not carry that information the TV thinks that tuner does not work which triggers the 12 flashes. Also on power up the gray box with the waring message "Plasma Display Starting Up, Please Wait" appears and the screen is blank.

This a factory issue and usually requires service. Most cases it is a bad power supply caused by a surge or powering off and on too fast ... sorry I wish I had better news

Try this! There should be a power button on the bottom of the panel that has to be depressed for the television to power on. It is the main power supply button and without it there is no power going into the TV.
