Question about Brother SE-270D Computerized Sewing Machine

Open Question

Safety Device Activated

I was in the middle of sewing a overcast stitch on my Brother Innov NX 400Q and the machine locked up and displayed "Safety Device Activated". I have had this machine for about 2 years and sewed very little on it as of today. I followed the instructions in my manual. I also checked the bobbin case and removed the plates and bobbin holder and cleaned with the lint brush. I rethread the top and reinserted the bobbin. I had to manually thread the needle (also changed the needle) and I still cannot move anything to sew.

The fact that your machine is turning hard says you still have some thread inside the machine that is binding up and activating the safety device. It must turn easily before it will work properly again.
Sometimes the machine must be disassembled to remove these threads.

SOURCE: I have a Brother SE-270D

its the problem of the timing belt in your machine its extra loosen or extra tightned or is slightly came out of its position or finally broken.
as the machine is proper just missing the proper speed as it should be .
it is running continuosly as you stated.
check the timing belt and make it proper if its worn out and needs replacement this is how its done

There is an adjusting screw on the right side of the machine head. Follow the motor bracket to the machine head and loosen that big old screw or bolt which will raise or lower the motor giving you slack to remove or replace the belt.

feel free for further queries
thanks

SOURCE: Brother VX-1120- The needle is not picking up bobbin thread.

I had the same problem with my brother vx-1120 sewing machine. I set the needle to lowest position by using the hand crank. Then I loosened the knerled set screw that holds needle in place. Then I moved needle shaft till the eye of needle is just lower than the hook on the shuttle loop maker. It made my mechine work. There are instuctions for ajusting timing on machine but I think these mechines are built to not fix and throw out. Just because there where no ajustment marks at all on machine, any machanical machine will needed to be ajusted sometime.

If you're using the straight stitch you need to increase the stitch width which moves the needle to the right. On the arrows keypad click the right side arrow then press the Manual memory key.

If you have the manual for your machine, go to page 64

Code E8 on brother Model Ns40

Yes the manual for Brother sewing machines are available from their support site: http://www.brother-usa.com/manuals/default.aspx?ProductGroupID=3#.TyH3fIFtNG9 . I believe the NS40 is the Brother Innov-is 40. The direct link to the manual is http://www.brother-usa.com/ModelDocuments/Consumer/Users%20Manual/UM_Innov_%C3%ADs%2040_%20NEW%20Limited%20Edition_EN_1114.PDF . An E8 error means that a stitch was selected after the twin-needle setting has been selected. Cancel the twin-needle setting and then select a stitch. Then if you are using a twin-needle setting, adjust the machine for the twin-needle setting.

I hope this helps.

Brother SE-350 "The safety device has been activated"

Return the bobbin winding shaft on the top right of the machine to the Left Position. It may be stuck in the middle.
I had this same problem. After an hour or two of fiddling, this fixed my problem.
