Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

Goodman GMS81405DNA. 3 Blinks indicate a Pressure Switch Problem. Usually water in the hose, but not this time! When I remove the hose, and draw air through it myself, the furnace fires. The Recirc Motor feels like it's BLOWING air out, and not drawing it in! Any ideas? Mark

Did not appear to be, and the vent blower rotates freely with abundant speed.

Id say your flue exhaust pipe is restricted.

If the fan is spinning and the pressure switch is ok....its either flue or heat exchanger with a big hole.

Hello, our 4 yr old goodman gmv9-gcv9 two stage gas furnace stopped heating our addition, it has 3 flashes from the red LED code. it says the low fire pressure switch is stuck open. i took off the switched...

Check the air intake pipe and if you can , remove it from the furnace temporally. It will be the one going to the burner not the inducer fan. Inspect the exhaust pipe for any ice, sags where water could collect and any debris. Take a jumper and when the inducer spins up to speed, put the jumper across the two terminals going to the pressure switch. If the unit fires up, you have either a bad pressure switch or a bad inducer fan. If you get it running, check for vacuum at the pressure switch hose. Only one hose will have pressure. If none, bad inducer. Blow out any condensate hoses you have on it. Your pressure switch works on vacuum not pressure, so test by applying slight pressure and use a multi-meter.

Hi: I have a Rheem furnace model # RGPH 15EARJR with a Protech 62-24084-82 main board which keeps cycling on and off every few minutes. When it goes off the middle green LED blinks rapidly three times over...

There is a diagnostic chart on the reverse side of the front panel near the wiring diagram. Usually a 3 blink indicates a pressure switch problem. Check your air filter, condensate hose and drain, intake and exhaust pipes.

Hi, I have an amana 90 air command. runs some times. the indicator light on panel blinks 3 times indicating a pressure switch problem. the last time i got it started, I had to bang on the right switch...

A pressure switch that is not closing could be a inducer not performing too. Obtain a amp draw off your inducer motor it should read the same as the nameplate rating. If its not you could have a bad inducer motor. The problem I have recently seen is restricted venting we had rain part of the day sat and then snow and then 0f temps. This will block flue pipes and restrict airflow. If all that checks out ok then its probably the switch. is it really $269 well unless your a licensed hvac company we have to pay list price for everything try calling Johnstone Supply. Happy heating

Heat does not work when thermostat calls for heat...

This is a safty limit switch. Find two wires that are going to the inducer or combustion blower that terminates to a small disk about the size of a penny. In the middle of those two wires should be a small button. Push firmly down thus reseting the switch. This should do it. It could also be the pressure switch but I have never heard it called that before. If the first doesn't fix the issue. Remove the small tube that runs from the inducer to a black or silver disk, blow out and draw in air until you hear clicking noises. Sometimes they can become stuck. If that doesn't work, remove the other end of the tube from the pressure switch and blow through it. Sometimes debris can clog the entrance to the pressure switch as well. Hopefully this will solve your problem. You can have a bad limit or a bad pressure switch. In this case you will probably have to call someone out.

Goodman GMS90904CXA Wont ignite, light blinks 3 times

I had the same problem, I had to remove the lower black rubber stopper right next to the exaust fan and hook up a drain to the unit, as soon as the water drained out the furnace fired right up.

The led indicator blinks 3 times on an Amana 90 furnace. What does this mean? The furnace won't fire.

Pressure switch open. Remove the small hose at the blower assy and gently **** on it. You should hear the switch on the other end of that hose change states. If not then it's the hose (cheap) or the switch (100 bucks but tough to find 2 years ago) or the wiring to/from or the control module. If it does do you have a bunch of white **** (the gasket) coming out of the black blower mount? I had to remove broken gasket and Permatex the seal to create the proper pressure; that's probably your problem as well.

the pressure switch is closed before the draft motor closes it.the board is telling you that this is not right.pull the wire(either) off of the pressure switch to see if furnace tries to light.if it does, you should replace the pressure switch.

Goodman GMP125-5 furnace burners won't fire

Try to bypass the connection of the pressure switch to confirm if the pressure switch is really bad, and reset the unit. Monitor your pressure to be sure that its normal and not the cause of tripping your pressure switch.
