Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

Goodman GMS81405DNA. 3 Blinks indicate a Pressure Switch Problem. Usually water in the hose, but not this time! When I remove the hose, and draw air through it myself, the furnace fires. The Recirc Motor feels like it's BLOWING air out, and not drawing it in! Any ideas? Mark

Id say your flue exhaust pipe is restricted.

If the fan is spinning and the pressure switch is ok....its either flue or heat exchanger with a big hole.

My Goodman furnace, model GMS80903BNA, is not working. I removed the back panels and checked the pressure switch. That seems to be working fine. The exhaust inducer spins up, the igniter starts to glow,...

That blinking 3 times is indicating a pressure switch problem. Try checking for water or a blockage in any of the hoses going to the pressure switch or condensate drain. Check the air intake and exhaust pipe for any blockage including any saggs that may hold water. Make sure condensate drain or pump is working. If you get a glow from the igniter, there may be a blockage in the gas valve or piping.

I have a gmpm100-4 furnace. The problem indicator lights blinks three times. It indicates a pressure valve is not closing. Question, what is the pressure valve and or switch that regulates this process and...

It may look like a small round disc and is connected to the inducer or exhaust fan by one or two small hoses. Make sure the hoses are free of any blockage, the air filter is clean, any hoses for the condensate drain is free of any water blockage, make sure your condensate pump is working (if you have one) or that the main water drain is not obstructed. Also inspect the fresh air inlet pipe and exhaust pipe for any sags where water can collect or any other blockage. If you find no blockage anywhere, replace the pressure switch. You may even have to remove the inducer fan to inspect for blockage. If you remove the hoses off the pressure switch, you should feel a small vacuume being produced that closes the pressure switch. If you feel nothing, you have a bad inducer.

Good Luck.

Light blinks 3 times on a Goodman model gmh80453an

Three blinks is an indication of a pressure switch error. Check your air filter, condensate pump or drain, vent termination and air intake for blockage or debris. Also check the inducer housing assembly for a build-up of water. Pull off the hose(s) going to the pressure switch and clear out any moisture. You may be able to jump out the pressure switch only after the inducer starts blowing to test it. If it starts, the switch is bad. If your venting runs horizontal for any length, make sure there is no build-up of water in either pipe by tapping it and listening for a thud. It should sound hollow and echo when you listen. If you **** in on the pressure switch very lightly, you should hear it make contact and you can test it with an Ohm meter for continuity. Hope this helps!

Three blinks on gas furnace, will not maintain flame

3 blinks indicates a pressure switch error. Check or replace air filter, condensate hoses for blockage, check small hose uo to pressure switch(s), check the vent pipes to make sure they pitch back to the furnace, check the air intake and exhaust pipes for any blockage outside. If all looks good, jump out pressure switch as soon as the exhaust fan starts to turn and see if unit starts. If it does, replace pressure switch.

It's mounted onto the gas valve. It will be a button or lever that you have to push in or down, depending on the style.

Goodman GMP125-5 furnace burners won't fire

Try to bypass the connection of the pressure switch to confirm if the pressure switch is really bad, and reset the unit. Monitor your pressure to be sure that its normal and not the cause of tripping your pressure switch.
