We have an Ultima washing machine and creases the cloths very badly any suggestions please

The amount of creasing you will get is directly related to the speed you select for the final spin dry cycle and the spin after the first wash cycle which occurs prior to the rinse cycle. The higher the speed and the longer it goes for the more the clothes will crease.

Experiment with different spin speeds on your machine for clothing that is subject to the creasing problem. Also do not put too many items in the machine for a wash as many people do as this will contribute to creasing. Always under load your machine for every wash cycle.

Spin drying is a compromise between creasing and maximum water removal. If you want less creasing you will need to select a more gentle spin dry speed but you will also have the clothes coming out of the machine with a higher water content and they will take a bit longer to dry. The spin time on the program may also be shorter.

In my own machines I use a gentle wash and spin cycle for all clothing that I don't want heavily creased. Running it on a wash cycle with a high and longer spin speed when the machine is spinning the clothes after the initial wash, and then again after the final rinse, will thoroughly crease the clothes every time.

Also bear in mind that different fabrics that are suitable for machine washing will perform differently and some are just too subject to creasing even if you use the most gentle wash, rinse and spin cycle. Hence you can take 2 different 100% cotton fabrics out of a machine and hang them to dry and one will be almost crease free and the other will be thoroughly creased. With these fabrics that are just very subject to wash creasing, it is better to hand wash and rinse them. Then after rinsing drip dry them or put them in the machine and spin them for 1 -2 minutes maximum just to get some of the water out and hang dry them.

HOW DO I GET INK STAINS OUT OF A WHITE COTTON SHIRT?

Rubbing alcohol or methylated spirits (denatured alcohol) from the drugstore or hardware store are ideal to remove ink stains, as long as the stains have not set. The alcohol neutralizes the pigment in the ink so it disappears. Either soak a washable garment in rubbing alcohol or methylated spirits, then wash as normal,[2] or use the following process:
  • Dip a clean cotton swab into rubbing alcohol.
  • Dab at the soaked up ink mark with the cotton swab (bud) or small sponge.
  • Repeat this each time with a fresh cotton swab or sponge, as many times as needed.
  • Dip another fresh cotton swab or sponge into cold water and dab the area to remove the alcohol from the fabric. For best results, let the fabric dry before trying to remove the ink stains again. Rubbing alcohol works best on a dry fabric, but after each application you must rinse it with water. The process of removing heavy ink stains is a lengthy, cyclical process of blot, rinse and dry.
  • Allow the area to dry. Wash the garment as normal.

Lint all over Clothing after rinse.

My washer accumulates lint between the wash tub and the outer chamber. Whenever you wash a load, all the past dried up lint gets reactivated into the new wash water.

If you get a refrigerator or dryer lint brush, you can reach this area and brush out the accumulation. Also the area above the wash tub can get clogged with lint. If you look under the lip between the tub, you can see the fabric softener/bleach channel dispenser, a lot of lint can accumulate there as well.

Clean both areas after a recent wash load when the lint has softened and is easy to scrub off. For safety's sake, unplug the washer. Be ready to be grossed out! I clean my washer every now and then to keep the lint down.

The washer will smell nice and clean after getting this lint/dirtball out. To maintain this lint free environment, see below.

If this fails and is not the problem, go to a thrift store and purchase the cheapest 100% pure wool clothing, some dark colors, and some white. The wool acts like a magnet for lint and will attach itself to the wool before it attaches to your clothes. It can be used over and over if you hang it out to dry. It will get felted and covered with lint.

How To Clean Silk

Hand Wash the item. Gently move the silk fabric around in the soapy water. Rub stains with your fingers or a sponge to clean them. Pour the water out when finished washing your garment.
Rinse the silk garment in a vinegar solution. White vinegar removes soap, restores shine and softens silk. Fill the basin with cold rinse water. Add 1/4 c. (50 ml) white vinegar. Gently move the garment around in the water to thoroughly rinse it. Empty the basin again.
Rinse the item in cold water. Add cold water to the basin. Rinse the silk item a second time in a basin of fresh, cold water. Turn the garment over and around to ensure it is completely rinsed and free of soap.

How to add fabric softner to the amana washer with locking lid

Check and see if there is a cup in the top of the agitator. Some machines have you put it there, turning back and forth during wash doesn't bother it, but the spin to empty the wash water causes the softener to go out through slots in the top of the cup and be held in the agitator. when it stops the softener drains into the tub, ready for the rinse cycle.

How do I clean the washer to eliminate the dark spots of lint and dirt on laundry?

Prevent lint from clinging to clothes by adding 1/2 cup white distilled vinegar to the wash cycle.
To remove soap residue that makes black clothes look dull use white distilled vinegar in your final rinse.Get stained white socks and dingy dishcloths white again. Add 1 cup white distilled vinegar to a large pot of water, bring it to a rolling boil and drop in the articles. Let soak overnight. Some stains on clothing and linens can be soaked out using equal parts milk and white distilled vinegar. Before washing a mustard stain, dab with white distilled vinegar.ttack spaghetti, barbecue, or ketchup stains with a white distilled vinegar and water solution.Remove perspiration odor and stains on clothing, as well as those left by deodorants, by spraying full-strength white distilled vinegar on underarm and collar areas before tossing them into the washing machine.Forgot that you left wet laundry in the machine and it now smells moldy? Pour a few cups of white distilled vinegar in the machine and wash the clothes in hot water. Then run a normal cycle with detergent.Remove smoky odors from clothes by filling the bathtub with very hot water and 1 cup white distilled vinegar. Hang the garments above the steaming water and shut the door so the steam can penetrate the fibers.Keep the steam iron clean and in good working order by getting rid of mineral deposits in steam vents and spray nozzles. Fill the water chamber with a solution of equal parts white distilled vinegar and distilled water. Set it in an upright position and let it steam for about 5 minutes. When the iron is cool, rinse the tank with water, refill and shake water through the vents onto an old cloth. Test before using.Remove scorch marks from an iron by rubbing it with a warmed-up solution of equal parts white distilled vinegar and salt. If that doesn't work, use a cloth dampened with full-strength white distilled vinegar.Remove musky smells from cotton clothes by sprinkling them lightly with white distilled vinegar and then pressing them.Get water and salt stains off shoes and boots by wiping them down with a solution of equal parts white distilled vinegar and water.Give patent leather shoes and bags a better shine by wiping them down with white distilled vinegar.Get cleaner laundry! Add about 1/4 cup white distilled vinegar to the last rinse. The acid in white distilled vinegar is too mild to harm fabrics, yet strong enough to dissolve the alkalies in soaps and detergents. Besides removing soap, white distilled vinegar prevents yellowing, acts as a fabric softener and static cling reducer, and attacks mold and mildew.Eliminate manufacturing chemicals from new clothes by adding 1/2 cup white distilled vinegar to the water.Remove soap **** and clean the hoses of your washing machine with white distilled vinegar. Periodically run the machine with only a cup of white distilled vinegar in it-nothing else added to the wash cycle.Bring out bright colors by adding 1/2 cup white distilled vinegar to the rinse cycle.Fluff up wool or acrylic sweaters (hand- or machine-washed) and rid them of soap smell with 1/2 cup white distilled vinegar in the last rinse water.
Get rid of the tiny holes left along the hemline when you take out the hem of any garment by moistening a cloth with white distilled vinegar, placing it under the fabric and ironing.

I have a Bosch washer. My clothes are not soft when washed. What kind of soap powder shoul I use ???

Hi,

A couple of things-

It really shouldn't matter which you use, not unless the garments are , for instance, wool and really need doing by hand.

Are you using fabric conditioner/softener at all? If not I would start using it. The only time my wife does not use softener is with towels; they dry you better without it!

Also if your water supply is 'hard' i.e. has lots of calcium in it, definitely ALWAYS use a suitable anticalc powder/tablet in EVERY wash. Regularly clean the machine with the contents of a sachet of proprietary anticalc powder which goes in on its own- without any garments.
Good luck,

Damaging clothes

How long is the gentle cycle?. I prefer to make my own delicate cycle. I let the machine fill, agitate about 1 min. then turn off and let soak about 15 - 20 min. Make the machine pump out and start spin very briefly. stop machine. let fill up again and repeat to rinse. Don't let agitate for more than 3 or 4 min total wash and rinse don't let spin completely.
