Cloudy images are usually a result of ccd gone bad. Try power reset, maybe it helps..

Sound like a problem with your LCD screen, related with the CCD Image Sensor; since that you can view mode and setting displays, isnt the LCD screenviewer.

The CCD Image Sensor isnt a job that you can do it, I suggest visit your techinician service or apply if has underwarranty.

Good luck.

Unable to see image on lcd or viewfinder but power ok.

It is known problem of ccd imager chip failure in few Canon models and your S2 IS got that problem too, ccd imager chip will be replaced to get live view in camera mode to take fresh pictures.
Local camera repair shop will help you to replace ccd imager chip in camera or click Canon CCD Imager Support and talk to them if they can replace it for free.
Hope this info will help you.

The viewing screen on the back is blank white.

Somkewhere after submitting the problem, I read a blog that instructed to press all five of the small buttons in the circle on the back while turning on the power. I took me twice and regained the viewfinder. They also had written that it may take a few times.

LCD screen flashing

This is a feature and not a defect of the K100D. You can turn this off by going to the menu and going into the second tab (playback menu). Once there, go to preview display, where you will have 3 options - off, histogram and brighten areas. Set this to off (your camera is set to brighten areas, that is why the white parts of your photos appear to be blinking).
Hope this helps!

LCD show purple or violet cast on white areas when using auto mode

Have you tried viewing the photos on a computer or printing them? There should also be parts of the menu/setting displays that would be white. The text on the image info should be in white.
If you are getting white, it would suggest your whitebalance isn't set correctly. If everything has a purple tint to it, check your LCD display settings, otherwise it may be the screen is failing.

Turn on camera but the lcd sceen is black

Have you checked the display mode you're in? If you have the display set to off (to save power) and also the picture review time set to off, then you'll just see a black screen. Try pressing the 'Disp.' button below the screen when the camera is on - it should cycle through different settings with each press: Off, On, On with picture info. Similarly, in the playback mode this will show you more or less info about the picture you are viewing.

Even if the display is switched off, if you have your 'review' option in the menu set to anything other than Off (i.e. 2 seconds), then you should see the picture you've taken appear on the screen straight after taking it.

If it's not that, then I don't know the answer....

LCD display looks like an xray, has white border around edges, and photos turn out with red & white lines dear sir or madame: if i were to try to focus on any subject, my LCD display looks almost like an xray image, you can see shapes, but the colours are not realistic; and there is an irregularly shaped white border around insides edges of the display itself. very strange, this happened about three days ago. when a photo is snapped, the result both on the display and when downloaded is a very faint photo, no variation of true colours showing. everything comes out to look like only thin red & white lines. there is only the tiniest bit of definition of shapes almost more like an aura around an object rather than anything like the object itself. i took it into a camera store, because i thought it was the battery, which has never been replaced since i purchased the camera several years ago. the gentleman insisted it was Not the battery. he demonstrated that it still looked exactly the same on the LCD display when he swapped it for a battery in the camera shop. he told me it had to be sent away for at least a month, for someone to identify the problem and repair it in another city. i have been trying to identify the problem myself. and have checked all the camera settings, which are hopefully set correctly. i have also tried another picture card, as i thought maybe the one in the camera was damaged. i hope i have explained this well enough to have the problem targeted, and hopefully to solve it? thank you very much for your kind attention & help. sincerely, april dolkar
