Question about Philips FWC780 Shelf System

Open Question

Philips FWC780 loses sound but comes back after power-off

Just recently (about a week ago), my Philips FWC780 loses sound to the speakers after 5 minutes to 25 minutes or so (it just depends - could it a heat related issue?) but it still has power and the power ouput/volume meter moves and all the lights stay on and I get sound from the headphones if I plug them into the earphone jack. But if I turn off the power off for a while (the length of time has varied but usually it been 30 minutes to a few hours or up to a day or more), the sound comes back. But then the sound goes off again. Don't know what to do - is it time to get a new system or get this fixed if possible? I tried finding a similar system on-line but haven't been able to find one with the cassette recording capability and with the RCA analog audio output jack and same size and power. Thanks.

Check the speaker wires for shorts, if okay, suspect the audio output chips in the stereo, one or two are defective.

My 2000 Ford Windstar LX is randomly losing all power & shutting down for 2-5 seconds while driving. Everything stops working ( like theres no battery in the car ), then it comes back and starts right...

If you just had your battery replaced recently before that, Either your positive or negitive terminal is probably loose and needs tightened. It may get jarred around, and do that shutdown your 2-3 times, until something jars it to a better connecting position.

Sound distortion comes and goes...

First of all, try to have this repaired under warranty. Usually these sets have a 1 year warranty. Second, make a recording of the problem. That will help the servicer to understand the problem.

If you are not successful at the warranty repair, the first thing to look for is a power supply problem or poor connections at the audio amp area. I will attempt to locate more details while you persue the warranty claim.

Please keep us posted.

Thanks,

Sound coming out of wrong speakers

I know nothing about your model but the very first thing that I would do is to pull the power cord from the wall outlet for at least 10 minutes and then plug it back in. This may reset everything.

Please try moving the laptop to another location, if you have not already tried that, especially if you have any other electromagnetic device nearby (like a transformer, motorized device, machinery, etc...)

Losing radio stations when switching on and have to press speaker button A

it does not have a battery but a large capacity capacitor that works like a battery. that could be the trouble but rarely happens on new units. the battery is located in the display board near the FL display. odl type uses like a button battery but newer model is just like an ordinary capacitor
