I bought the lap top about a year ago, and is being with this problem for a couple of months now. How can I fix the operating system, if I dont have the recovery CD. Maybe do I need to buy the whole Windows Operating System???

Had a similar issue on my Gateway laptop not long ago and ordered
the proper disks from Gateway for under 20 bucks and it only took a few days to get them via courier.so here is the link http://us-store.gateway.com/.Sadly when we bought computers years ago
new they came with the repair and or recovery media. Now its an extra but its so handy to have. Hope this helps Good Luck
No you cannot do that as it is registered to another PC. If it is new, contact the seller or hp and ask them for a suggestion otherwise you are looking at formatting ans starting again. However, if you have the COA code, download Win8 and use your code to re form the OS.
WOW, once again the recovery fails when you need it most. I don't understand why the manufacturers don't just give you a CD with the operating system and one with the Recovery when you purchase a system like they did years ago.
Did this error occur on a recovery image that you made (Cd's) or was it from using the Recovery Partition on the hard disk drive that the manufacturer set up? Either way, I think your best option is to just reinstall windows.
Hi, I think your laptop is now really messed up and you will need to restore to factoy settings. I hope you created the Recovery CD/DVD set with the Recovery Wizard when you first set up your computer, you can restore to factory default settings by setting up your BIOS (press F2 at the VAIO logo when you first start up) to boot to the CD-ROM/DVD drive first. Then boot with the Recovery Startup CD. Choose the option to perform a complete recovery Follow the prompts to insert the various Recovery CDs/DVDs as needed. As this action will format the drives again, I hope you have made a backup of your data. If you failed to create the Recovery CD/DVD set you need to purchase a proper recovery set from Sony.
