From your description, it does not sound like it is actually running hot.
Might be a faulty gauge or computer unit.
I hate to say it, but sometimes worth taking to the dealer to check annoying ones like this.

Crashes.

Since it's not hot the main suspect is the hard drive. I'd recommend swapping the drive out and reinstalling the operating system.

Fan is running hot and it makes one side of the computer very hot..laptop computer

That seems to be typical of that model. Oftentimes, it's the battery, microprocessor(s), or a combination of both. There are devices to cool the computer off, or you can use a small fan, that helps. Make sure it's not dirty inside (consult your manual on cleaning, or tech threads on this site). I wouldn't be alarmed, it seems to be typical with this model. My fan is running constantly computer seems

Yes, the fan should run continuously else the processor will get toasted. It get very hot without the fan even when the PC is not doing anything visibly.

Inspiron 1525 Touchpad has a mind of its own

I would try using what they call a cool mat. It sits under your computer and plugs into your computer per USB. It helps keep the computer cool. They cost like 25 dollars.

Car overheats. no coolant leak. fan doesn't seem to come on when hot

If the fan isn't coming on when hot, check the 'cooling fan control' (which signals the engine control computer that the fan should go on at a certain temp, and check the 'cooling fan switch' which should turn the fan on when told to by the computer. Also check your radiator cap, hopefully one or a combination of these will fix the car. Let me know how u make out.
