Hopefully this solution is for the model you have:

Does water squirt out of the hose nozzle, if it does, then check the heater inside the handle asm. Make sure that where the tubes hook up to it are not clogged. If water doesn't squirt, check for the seal at the bottom of the tank, it needs to be on the tank, not in the hole, this is for the soap bottle also, there is a seal on the bottom of it as well. The flow indictor cap is leaking air or maybe is too tight. If you had the top cover off, make sure that the tubes are routed right so as not to get pinched when the cover is put back on, the smart mix knob should be in the water setting and that the piston is on the bottom of the smart mix knob. Pump is bad. Try running a mix of vinegar and water to see if that unclogs the lines. Is the top cover and the base tight together in the back, sometimes the top breaks loose and it will raise up and it can't spray, just re-fasten it down.

Pressing the handle to release cleaning solution does nothing. The cleaning solution does not come out. Carpet is dry.

Check to ensure there is liquid in the water tank and the formula bottle.
Note: This machine will spray with liquid in the Water tank only if the machine is set to the Water Rinse setting. On any other setting, you need to have liquid in the formula tank as well.

If no: add liquid to the Water tank and the Formula tank.
If yes: check each of the following....

- Check the bottom of the Water Tank and the Formula Tank to make sure each has a red auto-load gasket attached. Make sure the Water Tank and the Formula Tank are seated properly.
- Ensure the tank lid is properly attached to the bottom of the tank. To attach this properly, remove the Water Tank from the machine. Hook the front window onto the lip of the bottom container and then allow the window with lid to cover the complete tank. Secure the latch on the back of the bottom tank to the back of the tank lid. THE TANK LID CANNOT BE ATTACHED PROPERLY IF THE BOTTOM TANK IS ALREADY INSTALLED IN THE MACHINE.
-If everything is seated and attached properly, prime the machine by turning off the power, waiting one minute, and then turning the power back on and depressing the trigger on the handle.
- If priming the unit fails to fix the problem, remove the handle completely and re-attach. Once the handle is re-attached, re-attempt to spray.
If the machine continues to not spray, check the following:

REMOVE THE COLLECTION TANK:
• Make sure the unit is set to water rinse
• Remove the smart mix bottle and fill it with water only
• Place the smart mix bottle into the collection tank reservoir
• Run the unit and try to spray. If the machine sprays, you will be able to see the water level decreasing in the smart mix bottle and you will need to replace the bottom tank. It is possibly warped.

If your machine continues to not spray, please take your machine to a local BISSELL Authorized Service Center for inspection and repair. BISSELL provides you with a one year warranty for any defective or malfunctioning part.

New replacement pump on Bissell ProHeat Protech not working

Not sure if I have the same model but this is what I found on mine this morning - wire to switch in the handle came off. Un-plug power cord. Unscrew top two screws on upright handle and remove the front cover above the trigger. see if wires are connected. top connector is not used - if you do solution will spray all the time. Good luck!

Does not spray the water and cleaning solution

Make sure there is liquid in both the Tank-in-Tank and the SmartMix Bottle and check for spray through the upholstery hose. If the hose does not spray please check the following:

- Remove the belt access door and inspect the pump belt to ensure it is not broken, worn or stretched. You may also check the belt by turning on the power and watching the brush on the bottom of the machine. If the brush rotates the belt is not broken.
- Check for proper placement of the o-ring on the SmartMix Cap Insert (some o-rings are detachable and need to fit over the straw; others are molded to the cap).
- Check for liquid in the base of the machine where the SmartMix Bottle sits (SmartMix Reservoir). If there is no liquid in the reservoir, the neck on the SmartMix Bottle may be undersized, the cap will not make proper contact with the unit and the smart mix bottle will need to be replaced.
- Check for the black or red tank gasket on the SmartMix Bottle Cap and on the bottom of the Tank-in-Tank Assembly. If gasket is lodged in base of unit or has been lost, reattach gasket on auto-load or order new gasket if appropriate.
- Check the valves on the bottoms of the Tank-in-Tank and SmartMix Bottle to make sure water/solution will come through when the "x" valve is depressed. Bladder or SmartMix bottle may be empty or the valve may be blocked internally.
- Check if the small rounded window tabs on the top edge of the Floor Nozzle Window are locked in their mating slots on the base of the machine and not inadvertently lifting the tank up out of place.

If these suggestions do not solve the problem, have a technician at a local BISSELL Authorized Service Center inspect your machine.

Machine suction works but will not spray liquid. Belts are ok but are not turning. Shaft gets hot and there is a burning odor.

This sounds as though the pump belt is slipping and burning. This may be caused because the pump belt has stretched slightly or the pump is seized and will not turn. Remove the pump belt and turn the pump rotor with your fingers to see it turns freely. If it does then the pump should be OK but the belt may be stretched and will need replacing. If the unit does not spray after changing the belt then clean the spray nozzles at the front of the machine and make sure that water flows to the nozzles OK. You can check this by temporarily disconnecting the nozzles from the plastic pipes.

Main causes for no spray.

Bladder may be empty.
SmartMix Bottle may be empty.
The Filter may be clogged.
Tanks may not be seated properly.
Pump may have lost prime.
The Pump Belt may be broken.

You will need to replace the proheat pump Key 41. Repair man says VAMUUM VERY good first once repaired. The hair will break the wheel that turns the wheel with a belt. It cost about $100.00 to take it in $23.99 if you buy it at www.vacuum24x7.com
