Question about HTC TyTN Smartphone
I purchased my HTC TyTN almost 2 years ago. Until 4 months ago, I would sync my phone to my computer (running Windows XP) by using ActivSync. I just got a new computer with Vista. I was able to sync 2 or 3 times (Vista runs a different syncing software but still is made by Microsoft) and then suddenly my computer stopped recognizing the connection with the phone. I have been told to download Windows Mobile 6 (which I did) but without a viable connection, I have no way of upgrading or installing anything on this phone. I did a hard reset but that didn't help. After the hard reset I even tried connecting to my old computer running Windows XP which allowed me to use ActivSync but that computer did not recognize a connection either. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can create a viable connection between the phone and the computer?
How do I synchronize my PDA phone with my computer using Bluetooth?
1. On your PDA phone, tap Start > Settings > Connections tab > Bluetooth. 2. Tap the Mode tab, select the Turn on Bluetooth and Make this device discoverable to other devices options, then tap OK. 3. In your computer, open Bluetooth Settings (or Bluetooth Configuration) from the system tray or the Control Panel, add a new device, then search for the PDA phone. 3. Select the Use my own password key option and enter a passcode. When prompted on your PDA phone, enter the same passcode. 4. In Bluetooth Settings (or Bluetooth Configuration) on your computer, you will see that the COM port connection name is Pocket PC (or your user name). Do not include Serial COM 4 corresponding COM number. If no COM port is present, you must manually add a new COM port. 5. In ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center on your computer, open the Connection Settings dialog box. Select the Allow connections to one of the following check box and then select the correct COM port. 6. In ActiveSync of the PDA phone, tap Menu > Connect via Bluetooth.
Why can't I synchronize the PDA phone with my PC using the USB cable?
Make sure Outlook 2003 or later version is installed on your PC. What is the difference between synchronizing with a server and synchronizing with a PC, and which should method I use?
Synchronization to a PC is for use when your information is stored in Microsoft Outlook on your PC. This method, which requires a USB cable, infrared or Bluetooth connection, will sync data only while your device is connected directly to your PC. Synchronization to a server allows your device to sync, over-the-air (OTA), directly to a Microsoft Exchange 2003 or 2007 Server. This allows you to update your Outlook e-mail, contacts, calendar and tasks information securely from any location using the data connection of your device. In order to use this functionality, you do not need a PC running; however it does require your IT administrator to enable you to use this service.

I'm just new at Fixya, but I would like to suggest something might can relieve your situation now. this really simple,
auto update your system to Microsoft for your system and drivers.
by clicking shield icon at the right task bar. along with the time.
there are multiple updates that your going through. and it can help.

Is there a settings on your phone that would trigger the connections between your phone and your computer? like a switch or configuration to be able to recognize. if not then try to install a usb driver which is downloadable on the internet and try another usb wire.

Check your rom version. go to Start > Settings > System Tab > Device Information.
Rom update Version 3.57.502.2 WWE (WM 6.1)
has been causing sync errors.

Make sure all security software are disable when you try to do a sync because sometimes security software can block the connection of those devices...

You need to install driver that compatible with windows Vista so download it from ----http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/device-center.mspx
