Question about HTC TyTN Smartphone

10 Answers

Computer has stopped recognizing a connection with my TyTN phone.

I purchased my HTC TyTN almost 2 years ago. Until 4 months ago, I would sync my phone to my computer (running Windows XP) by using ActivSync. I just got a new computer with Vista. I was able to sync 2 or 3 times (Vista runs a different syncing software but still is made by Microsoft) and then suddenly my computer stopped recognizing the connection with the phone. I have been told to download Windows Mobile 6 (which I did) but without a viable connection, I have no way of upgrading or installing anything on this phone. I did a hard reset but that didn't help. After the hard reset I even tried connecting to my old computer running Windows XP which allowed me to use ActivSync but that computer did not recognize a connection either. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can create a viable connection between the phone and the computer?

I would agree that potentially the only problem with my TyTN HTC phone's ability to be recognized by my computer as being connected would be to replace the USB cable. But we even tried using the Bluetooth feature to synchronize and it didn't recognize the connection either!Do you have another suggestion?

I still have not received any constructive responses yet. Can someone help me?

I downloaded Windows Mobile Device Center as suggested by the most recent advisor. All goes well (it even seems to pass the authentication test but I don't know if it is checking the software on my computer or my phone). Then when I launch the Mobile Device Center it says the phone is not connected when in fact it is. This is SO frustrating!!

How do I turn off Norton 360?

  • margaret142 Dec 09, 2008

Thanks for your question about the rom version. I checked on the phone and the rom version is 1.18.256.2. Sounds a long way from the rom version you spelled out.

Where can I find a new usb driver on the web? The suggestion about the usb wire has been brought up before. Can you suggest where I could order one of these?

  • margaret142 Dec 09, 2008

My bluetooth is working great but even with the Bluetooth feature turned on both, the sync option in ActivSync (on my phone) is still greyed out (that is the same indication I get when I use the USB cable which is why I don't think the problem is the USB cable). All the information supplied by the advisor about trouble shooting synchronization and turning off the Norton firewall, references ActivSync in the directions which is not on my computer. ActivSync does not run in Vista. It is the Windows Mobile Device Center so all the information about how to turn off the firewall between the device and the computer doesn't seem to apply. I looked down through the list of programs that the firewall addresses and the Windows Mobile Device Center was not on it. Thank you to everyone who is suffering through this situation with me. I'm using everyones advice and trying everything. I would give up but this phone is only 18 months old and was hugely expensive. Tossing it in the garbage is not an option......

How do I synchronize my PDA phone with my computer using Bluetooth?

1. On your PDA phone, tap Start > Settings > Connections tab > Bluetooth. 2. Tap the Mode tab, select the Turn on Bluetooth and Make this device discoverable to other devices options, then tap OK. 3. In your computer, open Bluetooth Settings (or Bluetooth Configuration) from the system tray or the Control Panel, add a new device, then search for the PDA phone. 3. Select the Use my own password key option and enter a passcode. When prompted on your PDA phone, enter the same passcode. 4. In Bluetooth Settings (or Bluetooth Configuration) on your computer, you will see that the COM port connection name is Pocket PC (or your user name). Do not include Serial COM 4 corresponding COM number. If no COM port is present, you must manually add a new COM port. 5. In ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center on your computer, open the Connection Settings dialog box. Select the Allow connections to one of the following check box and then select the correct COM port. 6. In ActiveSync of the PDA phone, tap Menu > Connect via Bluetooth.

Why can't I synchronize the PDA phone with my PC using the USB cable?

Make sure Outlook 2003 or later version is installed on your PC. If Outlook is installed on your PC but you have never used it, launch Outlook and create a personal mail account before you connect the PDA phone. • Check if ActiveSync 4.5 or higher version is installed on your PC. If you are using Windows Vista, sync using the Windows Mobile Device Center. • Click File > Connection Settings in ActiveSync or click Mobile Device Settings > Connection settings in Windows Mobile Device Center, and then select the Allow USB connections option. • Disable your PC firewall or antivirus software. • Visit this website for additional information: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/help/activesync/default.mspx

What is the difference between synchronizing with a server and synchronizing with a PC, and which should method I use?

Synchronization to a PC is for use when your information is stored in Microsoft Outlook on your PC. This method, which requires a USB cable, infrared or Bluetooth connection, will sync data only while your device is connected directly to your PC. Synchronization to a server allows your device to sync, over-the-air (OTA), directly to a Microsoft Exchange 2003 or 2007 Server. This allows you to update your Outlook e-mail, contacts, calendar and tasks information securely from any location using the data connection of your device. In order to use this functionality, you do not need a PC running; however it does require your IT administrator to enable you to use this service.

I hope it helps!!!

    A conflict occurs when
there is a connection breakdown during synchronization, especially when
the PDA phone and PC are changing sync items simultaneously. You may
tap Manage Conflict to specify if you would like to retain the data on
your device. You may also encounter a synchronization conflict after
opening and/or editing a file on the PDA phone. If this happens, close
the opened and/or edited file, and then try to sync again.

try to update in your computer manufacturer, find out if there available new drivers for your devices. because now a days, Vista OS there still many incompatible issue, this depend on Unit manufacturer, Integrate Drivers uses by manufacturer and your Vista version.

the most recent OS MS Vista is the Vista Ultimate Black Edition 2009 (by Benjamin) the most reliable in all Vista OS. and that why I recommend to update to Microsoft website for OS Integrated drivers issue. browse the MS website all update applicable to your system.

hope this can help your situation.

probable cause is Windows Update (which you can't undo)

HTC has recently released Windows Vista compatible drivers for its
UMTS/HSDPA capable devices, namely the HTC TyTn/Hermes and HTC Breeze
(aka HTC MTeoR). If you use your TyTN or MTeoR as you wireless
broadband modem and connect it via USB to your PC, it can happen that
Windows Vista doesn't find the appropriate drivers. If so, you can
download them now from HTC Europe's support page to make Windows Vista
working proper with your Windows Mobile Pocket PC.

either VISTA or HTC must release a WORKING driver in order for it to work.

My htc desire will no longer sync with my PC it asks to insert disk into drive E

Your solution
==============================================

Setting up HTC Sync to recognize your phone

After installing, set up HTC Sync to recognize your phone.

1. From the Home screen, press MENU, and then tap Settings > Accounts & sync.

2. On the Connect to PC screen on your phone, tap HTC Sync and then tap Done. Your phone attempts to find HTC Sync on your computer. Wait for a few seconds for the process to finish.

3. If your phone displays a message indicating that it's unable to find HTC Sync, try disconnecting and reconnecting the USB cable, and then repeat step 2.

4. When the Phone Connection Wizard is displayed on your computer, click Next.
Enter the name you want for your phone, and then click Finish.

Check the HTC Sync icon at the bottom-right side of your computer screen. If it appears green in color, that means your phone has successfully connected with your computer and HTC Sync recognizes your phone

=========================================================

If still no go try this .

Unplug the phone from the PC, restart both the phone and the PC. When the PC is done booting, plug your phone in and see if the autorun box pops up.

===================================================
still if nogo try this .

you have to select disk drive (when plugged in via notification area) to be able to view the drive in windows and htc sync to use htc sync.

Change language from italian to english.. htc tyn II pro, thank you

Hi there!
You'll need to follow this steps to change the language of your HTC TyTN II

1. Make sure you install Microsoft ActiveSync in your computer. Do a first time sync between your phone and the computer.

2. Disable any screensaver and/or hibernation in your computer.

3. Sync and again and flash with the HardSPL rom from OliNex. You can find this HardSPL software from here >> http://wiki.xda-developers.com/uploads/Unsigned_HardSPL_for_Blackstone_OliNex.zip The flashing completes in under 2 minutes.

4. Reboot device. TouchFlo3D will launch into the native language the device originally came in. The new rom now enables you to flash other language roms, even official ones from HTC, bypassing licensing and verification checks (of course you should have the relevant ROM).

5. Finally, flash again with the newset WWE (World Wide English ROM. You can download the official English ROM here: http://www.htc.com/hk-en/supportdownload.aspx?p_id=13&cat=2&dl_id=287

6. Device reboots in english, or the language of the ROM you flashed.

Take note that by doing this, the warranty of your phone will be voided.
Hope this helps

Hi
Not sure what you need the disc for. All you need is for Active Suync to be operational on your PC. Best to download the latest version of Active Syn. Its easily found by Googling Active Sync Download.

AS will already be installed on your PC (might be an older version) - so what happens when you connect the TyTn?

HTC TyTn II data connection problem

It keeps connecting because an application keeps wanting to access the internet.

Make sure you set your email to manually download messages.
Turn the Weather Tab off in HTC Home Screen as it automatically downloads the weather.
Turn off "QuckGPS"
Disable Error Reporting to Microsoft in the System settings

Also remember MMS messages will require internet connection.
Everytime you send a MMS or receive a MMS your phone will connect to the internet.
