You don't need to pay acer the 100usd to get the password removed,
one thing you can try first, is to disable the elock service from
start -> run -> type in services.msc
look for elock service right click properties startup type disabled and stop the service, on some elocks this is enought to stop it from working. but it debends I can fix this and I have done it many times now..

Create the Acer Empowering Technology password
After user privileges have been confirmed, you will be prompted to create an Acer Empowering Technology password if one does not exist.
The Acer eLock Management utility prompts to create an Acer Empowering Technology password with the window message “ This utility needs to set up a password before using it.” The two buttons at the bottom are “Setup” and “Cancel”. Clicking the “Setup” button leads to the window “ Empowering Technology Password Center” with the button marked “ Create a New Password”. Clicking the button Opens the third window prompting for “New Password”, “Confirm” and “Hint”.
The user interface
Acer eLock Management utilizes a simple graphical user interface to lock and unlock drives, devices and interfaces for which access can be controlled and are listed on the main screen, each with a lock and unlock button. After modifying settings, click the “Apply” button to enable changes. After clicking "Apply" or attempting to close the user interface with altered settings, an “Enter Pass word” dialog will appear. The Acer Empowering Technology password will have to be entered to enable the new settings, or press “Cancel” to abandon the modification.
Entering the password completes the operations and the Device is now locked. Once a device is locked the device will be disabled by Acer eLock Management and the drive icon and letter will not appear in Windows Explorer. The device cannot be accessed unless Acer eLock Management Unlocking password is entered and the Device is Unlocked.
Entering your password
Whenever you attempt to change the status of a drive, device or interface you will be asked for the Acer Empowering Technology password.
If the wrong password is entered, click “Hint:” to get password hint or “Retry” to enter the password again.
Popup messages
When Acer eLock Management is in use, popup messages are displayed in the bottom-right corner of the screen to alert you to the status of drives, devices and interfaces. Acer eLock Management will display a message informing you of drive, device or interface status whenever media is detected or inserted.

How to hook up with internet

Does it have any buttons to turn Wifi On or Off. Sometimes you need to press a Function key (FN) and another keyboard button to turn on, look for the wifi symbol.
So FN (lower left of keyboard) and F11 (top right of keyboard). See if your Wifi appears and you can connect.
Otherwise, please post the model of your Acer Chromebook to help identify the issue.
thanks

Hello you can ask your local acer shop to order a new mainboard.

But it will cost more than a new laptop to change the mainboard.

The price is approx. 500 dollars for the mainboard.
Without the cost to change it.

The home page is here:

Hope this will help you

Scroll down, look at the photo in Step 12.
Now look at the photo in Step 16.

Two cables (Wires) connect to the Wireless module, go through the body of the laptop, up into the Display Assembly, and to a wireless antenna.

I got Elephant wireless mouse but it is not working on my new Acer Aspire one D255E netbook. Do I need a software , if so where can I download

When you plug in the wireless USB adaptor nito your laptop, you should get a message stating that the driver is being loaded. This is a generic driver which is already available in Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7. If you look in Device Manager you should see an entry for HID Compliant Device. If this is not present then The wireless adaptor is not working. If the driver is instaleld correctly then check that the batteries are OK, correctly inserted and the ON/OFF switch is set to the ON position.

In order to check that you have your Audio Driver installed for either your on board or ext card sound. Go to. Control Panel. Click on the System Icon. Then click on Hardware Tab. Then Device Manager. It'll show a list of you hardware spec. Check for Sound Devices. Then look to see if you've possibly a yellow exclamation mark. If you have when you right click with the option for properties it'll show the device isn't working. What i suggest is to. Right Click. Then Un-install. Then restart your computer. The software drivers should be with your operating system already. ( Though may be not though. Could be downloaded if not there ) When your computer restarts. It should display a bubble message saying that it has has found hardware & is installing driver software. When it has installed it should say. Your sound kit is working properly. If it doesn't do this perhaps the driver software arn't with your operating system. You'll need to find the drivers software from the Internet. You'll need the details. Thats given with device manager for the type of hardware spec your computer has. Then it just a matter of doing an Internet search for your driver software. Download this. Do a restart. Your computer shall detect this. Then it should install. Your Good To Go !

You now should have sound !
