Question about Televison & Video

Can't see video on TV, which is running through the Bose system

I have a Sharp Aquos LC42D62U. It's currently connected to: - Dish DVR 510 - Wii - Bose Lifestyle 38 with VS-2 Video Enhancer - ipod Dock
I can: - watch TV and the sound is coming through the Bose - listen to the radio playing through the Bose - play a CD through the Bose
However, when I attempt to play the Wii or watch a DVD, I can hear the sound, but not see the picture.
I've tried hooking the Video out on the VS-2 to Input 1 on the TV and then I bought an HDMI cable and hooked that cable from the VS-2 to Input 6.
At this point I think the problem has to be with some setting on the TV, but I can't figure it out. It's been a week and a half of trying a lot of configurations, going through the manuals and playing with every TV setting I can find.
I'm stumped and frustrated. Help!

    Smarttech,

Would you please clarify? I'm not sure what you mean by interchanging the connections and trying 1 by 1.

I need more details on the solutions. If you would list out the steps, that would be very helpful. Thanks!

Thanks Nijna. The problem is still that I can't even get to a point where I can see the Wii menu on the TV. :(

I agree with techjuli, Sounds reminiscent to the problems a friend had when trying to play several devices through his Plasma TV.
Do you have AV 1 & AV 2 inputs? Normally a scart cables connect these together, but if you have more then 1 AV Input Socket, then you would need to change over to AV 2 which usually is only available to do by your Remote Control.
You may want to try plugging the Devices that don't work, into the AV Input Sockets of Devices that do work, just to eliminate various possibilities :-).

Let me see if I understand this:

The parts of your hookup which are operating properly are:
1. being able to watch the TV and hear sound via the bose (great product) and Dish TV reciever
2. listen to the radio via the bose
3. play a CD through the bose

To me, it sounds like the connection between your TV and Bose are perfect and the only problem is with the connections from the DVD player and Wii to your TV/Bose.

With me so far?

As far the Wii goes, please keep in mind that there is currently no HDMI support for the Wii. You'll have to stick to those little component cables that came with the console.

Perhaps the same issue applies to the DVD player? Even though I am personally in love with all things HD, you might try using component cables with that as well and report back.

Hope this helps!

Make sure the setting for the wii is at 480P

In order to view the game in Progressive Scan, you must select "ED or HDTV (480p)" through the TV Resolution option in the Screen Settings (how to) of the Wii console.

Certain Wii software will support a 480p (progressive) picture, which displays at a higher resolution than the standard 480i (interlaced) resolution. Please note that you must have the Wii Component Video Cables, and your TV must support 480p in order to enable it.

Can't see video on TV, which is running through th - settingstvresolution.gif

  1. Point at the screen ration you would like to display the image in and press the A Button.
  2. Click the "Confirm" button to set the screen position.

Remove all the connections and interchange the connections and try 1 by 1.

Connect the Wii directly to the TV either using the HDMI cable or the Hi def cable(5 RCA connectors) that come with the Wii. Then select the input number on the TV to get a picture .

Trying to program bose univeral remote to control vip622 dvr. I have tried the codes bose suggested.

Hi my name is Mike Houston a Social Media Representative at DISH. I see you have a Bose universal remote and you want to program it to your VIP622 DVR. We do not have codes to setup other remotes to our DISH equipment. With our SD/HD receivers they are installed with a DISH universal remote that can control many different components including a Bose system. If you have any further DISH questions please e-mail me at michael.houston@dish.com

Can i connect my wii console to my tv thru my dish network dvr

I hope that you have found the proper solution for this. The Wii console only has an "out" port, no "in" ports. This means that you can only connect the Wii to the tv, and nothing to the Wii, so you are not able to connect this between your receiver and tv.

Guest,

The receiver may be developing a hard drive problem. Have you seen any error messages pop up on the TV screen (024 or 311)? The receiver may need to be replaced. You can call 1-800-333-3474. I hope this helps.

Make sure that the software is correct. Should be P4.07
you can go into the DVR and replace the hard drive but I would suggest getting Dish Home Plan, Replace the receiver and then cancel the Home Plan. Talk to Dish Network and they will work with you.
