Was the ink cartridge you bought an official HP ink cartridge or was it some other brand? This can also cause this problem, or it could be a bad cartridge. Please take a moment to accept and rate my solution accordingly.
Thanks,
Lee

First, make sure you re using only genuine cartridges. Try reseating the cartridges and unplug the printer from the power source and PC for about 2 minutes. Then reconnect and see if it works.

If it still does not work, uninstall the printer software, reboot the PC and reinstall the software. Make sure you have the latest version of the software as well. You can download it from the HP website.

Hope that helps!

Leave the new ink in the printer. Unplug the printer from the power for about 10 mins. Then plug it back in and let it initialize.

You may need to disconnect the printer from computer and power source ,,, power down computer and restart, after it starts back up then shut it down again and reconnect the printer and plug it back in and restart computer / printer should start up ok then ,,,,, if it says anything about alinement just bypass that part and try printing a test page off your mail and see if it dont work right then / larry
dont forget the rating please / thanks

Where do you install the ink cartages? I know this is dumb but I did not install my printer.

Depending on the brand, most ink cartridges can be accessed by just opening the lid. When it opens, the ink cartrdiges will move from the right side of the printer to the middle. You should be able to remove them then. BE CAREFUL and seat the new ink cartridges properly> Pay attention whne you remove them. They go back the same way they come out...Good Luck

My epson stylus cx3200 is not printing in black but does print colour even though ink levels in both colour and black cartridges are fine

If you are brave I had the same problem. I removed my ink disconnected the data ribbon to the Head. Took off the nozzles. I used a child's med. syringe with the tube. Filled it will rubbing alcohol. placed the tube on the head where the ink cartage attaches and slowly put pressure on the syringe. Be care full it will flush the black ink everywhere. I kept doing this till the black was all flushed out. Put it back together. make sure you put the ribbons back in the right way. Mine works great.
