Question about Dell Inspiron B130 Notebook
I have a line across the screen. it showed a couple of weeks ago. it would go off if the machine is on or you moved the screen. now it wont go away. is this a lcd problem and screen needs to be replace? or mother board problem. dont wanna spend another 400 on getting this one repair. when you can for about that amount. someone tell me if anyone else out there has just place the lcd and it was fine?.
There are two ways to know whether this is an LCD problem or a video card problem. If the lines are visible only when you are logged in to Windows, then you might have a video card problem (or a motherboard issue if the video card is integrated). One good way to find out if this is an LCD problem is to run the PSA or Pre-boot Self-Assessment from Dell. To do this:
1. Shutdown your computer.
2. Press and hold on the "Fn" key (found at the lower left corner beside CTRL)
3. Press the power button while holding the "Fn" key.
4. Once the computer is on, release both keys.
If the lines are still visible at this point, then you have an LCD problem. You can also confirm this by connecting an external monitor to the computer. If the external monitor does not show any lines at all, then that confirms your LCD defect.
Please let me know if this helps. If it did, please rate it.
