Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Mine hitachi hard disk is 80GB SATA i cant able to install OS because it is showing error some virus found and u r not able to formate this. first when i put OS CD in drive it will install some files and...

The problem is that XPinstallation CD does not have a SATA driver, unless you have a SATA drive on adisk etc. and can install the driver when XP asks for a hard drive driver then,XP cannot detect the hard disk and therefore won't install XP. The FIX. Go into the BIOS anddisable the SATA drive (enable IDE emulation), this will make XP think it is aIDE/PATA hard disk. Then you can install XP normally. When Windows hasbeen installed then install all the device drivers (including the SATA driver),then shut down and boot up and got into the BIOS and enable the SATA drive.

Henery, you should be able to hit the ESC key while booting up and give you the OS choise.

P5rd1-vm sata installed xp nit detect

Check in the BIOS settings. You probably want to either enable legacy AHCI support, or you need the appropriate AHCI/SATA drivers for Windows XP. Otherwise, the system will install in compatibility mode, and then be unable to recognize the disk once booting in standard mode.

Also, verify that you have the latest BIOS installed:

The system is in a reboot loop. Possible causes are:

Corrupt installation of Windows
Bad Hard Drive
Bad RAM
Bad Motherboard.

Try booting to the Windows XP CD, see if you can access recovery console and run CHKDSK /R If that doesn't resolve, boot to the resource CD, and run diagnostics on the HDD

If you can't, boot to the XP CD or Resource CD, try removing the HDD and booting to the CD. If the system boots then, the HDD is most likely bad.

If you can't boot to any device, try RAM modules individually, see if system boots with only 1 module installed. If no change, then motherboard is bad. On a system this age, I do not recommend replacing a motherboard as it is not cost effective

It depends what kind of SO do you want to install

I recommend you to user an USB Linux distro.

Anyway, normally when installing any SO lets you select the partition where you want to install the SO.
Select the partition belonging to the USB External HD, and do everything else normally.

You must have in mind that you will lose everything in the USB HD, and that using it this way the OS will work only when the HD is plugged to the same PC, it may work with a different PC with different hardware but the SO will install the new drivers for the new hardware.

That's why I recommend you to use linux, check this out www.pendrivelinux.com/

Bois problems????

No - this is something that can generally only be resolved with a repair install of the XP.

The repair option can be accessed while doing a standard (i.e. boot from the CD) install. Note: this is a repair option after you select to install; not the repair/recovery options on the first screen.

It should detect your OS and ask if you want to repair it. This will cause you to have to reactivate windows, and I highly recommend having your drivers already downloaded and ready to be installed. Some programs my have to be reinstalled also.

There is a sysprep tool that can be used, but I've always found it easiest to do a repair.

How to Install a new HD on Dell Inspiron 6000?

You can always parition the drive, and install both Ubuntu and XP (dual boot).

Yes, you will be able to access the files (providing the drive isn't totally crashed), although Ubuntu may not "know" what the files are.
