I have a maytag performa dryer wont heat up sometimes

Hello there:
If there is no heat or heat sometimes please try these solutions
Heating element Often a dryer heating element burns out, but doesn't trip the circuit breaker or blow a fuse. The heating element is simply a long coil of special wire. You can check it for continuity with an ohm meter. No continuity means the element is bad and you need to replace it--electric heating elements aren't repairable. Thermal fuse On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse--which is about an inch long--is usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing. If the fuse has blown, you need to replace it. (You can't re-set it.) Wiring A common problem is for the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, to burn and break its connection. Because the dryer can still tumble with partial power, the connection may be only partially defective. You may need to replace both the power cord to the dryer and the terminal block inside the dryer that the wire is attached to.

My Maytag Performa dryer just quit. About 7 years old. Better to get it fixed, or replace it?

you need to check the set of thermal fuses.you need to lift the lid on the dryer and look in the back on the left you find the heating element.there is a large thermal fuse right on top of it,then on the side of the can there is another one that is usually the one that goes bad.the part number is la-1053 you replace all three of them.but first thing you need to check for continuity on them. if they are good then check the continuity on the heating element.replace if needed

No hot air in drum

the heating element has gone south, its a problem that is probably better left to a pro as the dryer must be almost completely dissassembled to change it. sorry its not an easy fix.

My maytag dryer won't heat up

try flipping you breaker off and on 2 or 3 times (hard and fast) if this don't work check element, timer , thermostats and safety switch on motor 2 heavy red wires (check wiring diagram for pin numbers of safety switch)....if this switch goes bad the motor will still run but it wont let power go to element

Do not buy or use a maytag performa dryer model number pye2300ay at all. I fyou have one unplug it and take to the landfill or scrap yard. They are complete junk and nothing but a hassle. One problem after the other on this model no matter what you do. they are complete trash and a waste of your money.

Dryer turns on doesnt dry

Suspect heating element or thermal fuse. The heating element and fuse can be checked with an ohm meter. The reading should be 0-2 ohms on both devices. If heating element reads infinity (nothing) replace heating element and fuse. If the fuse reads infinity then replace the fuse.
