Question about Texas Instruments TI-84 Plus Calculator

# INVALID DIM Whenever I attempt to graph an equation, regardless of its simplicity, I receive the error message "INVALID DIM". I checked the mode and the stat plot menu and nothing appears to be out of order...the graphing function just seems not to work.

On a calc that's work properly, in the 'y=' screen, none of the 'Plot#' things are highlighted. try pressing 'y=', and if you have a 'Plot#" in a black box, go up to it and press enter to un-highlight it.
either it will work as soon as you press 'graph',or you have another problem

Go into stat plots and turn off each stat plot individually, trying to select the 4 option will not work, turn off each one individually, worked for me.

Go to stat plot (2nd y=) and make sure all the plots are off. This will allow you to graph again. Hope it helps

These suggestions got me in the ball park, but, where I failed was I had change the setting in zoom. Once I changes it back I was able to set the ymin to 0 or less. I had changed the zoom to #9zoomstat, changing it back to #6 zstandard solved my problem. Good Luck all

Invalid dim how do i get rid of that

Posted on Oct 15, 2008

This means you have an invalid command in your "stat plot" screen, even though you want to plot a normal graph. Go to your stat plot screen, and select option 4 (PlotsOff), Press Enter, and try to plot a normal graph again.

"Invalid Dim"

This message has several possible causes.

• If you get this when making some kind of plot, you probably forgot that you have one of Plot1 Plot2 Plot3 turned on, and it refers to two lists that don't have the same length. The cure is to press [Y=] and turn off the unwanted plot.
• If you're actually doing something that needs lists, such as a regression, but your lists don't have the same length, you get this message. Press [STAT] [1] and check your lists.
• You also get this message when you give the TI-83 a list or matrix where it expected a variable or number, or vice versa. For instance, on the STAT PLOT screen, you may mean to press [2nd] [L1] but if you miss the [2nd] you actually type a Y. In the same way you might type a Z where you intend to type L2.
• Karl Wein offers another possibility. You can create a list called L1, but that is not the same as the predefined list called L1 (note the small-capital L), and of course similarly for lists 2 through 6. If you accidentally delete a predefined list from the editor, make sure to bring it back with the SetUpEditor command.

In general, when you see this message you need to check carefully through what you've done to make sure that you used lists where you were supposed to, and nowhere else.

I had the same problem, and just make sure your (y=) "Plot 1" isn't highlighted.

The suggested step here did not work form me. It did steer me in the right direction. I went to Stats Plot and to the first area and turned it off. Then I could graph my solution.

You might want to check your stat plots and correct the lists used in them. The "INVALID DIM" will show up if you've configured the lists in the stat plots incorrectly. Remedying this is easy; just fix the lists used in your stat plot.
Example: If I had data in lists 1 and 2 but configured my stat plot so that it will use lists 1 and 3, I would receive this error.
