Question about Eureka WhirlWind 4381 Upright Vacuum

1 Answer

No suction. Picked up dog hair but went into extension hose socket and not into cannister. Is now blowing instead of sucking. This is a Eureka whirlwind lite. Thank you Jim

Eureka vaccuum blowing out and not sucking in

Hi There,
I am going to assume you are talking about a Eureka upright vacuum.
The cause for this is generally either
A) Broken Belt - Which you can easily fix by changing belt
or
B) Blockage in the hose somewhere - Basically test the suction with the machine turned on with you attachment hose and see if you have suction. If you do check the belt and make sure you clear out any muck left around the roller.

I have a hoover Dust Manager DM6200. actually it is my friend's. She said it wasn't working well, so I took a look. It wasn't picking up, and seemed to be spreading dirt in fact. I emptied...

Hey Julie,

Hopefully we will get this solved together.

To me, this problem sounds like either the filters are choked up and cannot breathe, OR.... the bagless cannister is not quite sitting in the machine properly.
Honestly, I am more leaning towards the cannister not quite in properly, that is assuming that everything is out of the suction hose.

Start with the process of elimination. Remove and clean the filters with a paint brush or other brush. Get as much dirt and debris off of them as you can and replace them into the machine.
Turn on the machine, and using only the hose attachment, feel if the suction is there. If not, try a re-alignment of the cannister and check the hose. a small coin or marble running through the hose will tell you if there is still a blockage in there.
Where the attachment hose connects to the bottom of the machine could also be blocked up as well. This will also give the same effect of the dirt blowing out the bottom of the machine.

Lastly, it is also quite possible that the belt has stretched or worn out. This too will contribute to it not picking up.
Let me know if this helps, and we will go from there.
Good luck,
Mark

Hoover dm6200 blowing air

check your suction hose again, follow it to where it goes into the body of the machine. I assume this will be near where the bagless cannister is. Remove the bagless cannister and look up inside to where the attachment hose should come into the cannister. I believe you are still blocked up there. using a butter knife or something along those lines should free up the blockage.
Also, if that is all clear, try re-adjusting the dirt cannister as it may not be on properly to create your suction flow through the hose.
Good luck and let me know if I can help further.

Eureka Model Whirlwind litespeed. The rotart brush does not turn or rotate. Should it turn or rotate in order to give better suction?

Hello fnintel, yes, if you are using the upright vacuum it should spin, ( the belt likely slipped off, or the brush is clogged with hair and the likes.)
However, if you are using the hose on the vacuum like a shop vac, some models bypass the rotary brush.
Good luck!

there is a clog somewhere :) take the canister off and check the opening and the hose. sometimes items get caught in the top of the canister.. this greatly reduces the whirlwind effect..

My Eureka Whirlwind Plus is not sucking up

Hi,
It sounds like you just have a clog going on... maybe a sock or something. You might have to do a little disassembly of the roller to get to it.
Hope this hlelps... Good luck

My eureka 437 stopped sucking

Hello,
I believe the filter on your vacuum is clogged. Bagless vacuums require the filter be brushed or washed and dried, If they are not, the filter will clog, resulting in the reduction of suction. Clean filter about every 3 months or sooner if the same problem happens again. Hope this helps.

My Eureka Lite speed whirlwind has a bad odor when it runs.

It is either the filter or on the roller or belt.
