WHEN I PUSH THE 4 IT SAYS 6 ON THE REGISTER AND ALSO HAS A VALUE OF 6.  6 WORKS AS 6.  INSTEAD OF SAYING CASH ON THE RECEIPT IS SAYS "CASW".   I TOOK IT APART AND THE MACHINE IS EXCEPTIONALLY CLEAN.  I HAVE TO PROGRAM THE WHOLE THING ANYWAY BECAUSE IT IS FOR A NEW LOCATION.   ANY IDEAS AND IF NOT HOW DO I DO A HARD RESET?   THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!

Ok.  I actually have three of these and I took the top off of one and switched it with the one messed up.  The keyboard and components work fine on the other machine.   It has to be in the main board- the only thing left.  I printed the reports and didn't see anything too weird.  I think I need to do a hard reset but how do I do this.  Thanks again. Hi.
I would not recommend doing this unless you are certain that it is the cause. I have never had memory corruption in this series before, so I would strongly suggest it is being caused by another factor such as spillage in the keyboard.
Can you tell me exactly which buttons are showing the problem and what happens when you press them. Can you still make sales with the product buttons?

Ok. The next thing to do is read the programming to see if it really has corruption. we may need some of these settings if you need regional programming as well.

    Turn key to PGM mode

Press CA/AT (may be labelled TL) then wait for print.
    1 CA/AT - wait for print
    2 CA/AT - wait for print
    3 CA/AT - wait for print

Once you have the four print outs, have a look down them for more strange mutilated text.
Do not throw these print outs away, as they may be used later.
Once you have done this, we can try the next step.

Right that will allow us to read any programming we need from the other machines then.

    Next,

Turn power off at the wall.
Turn the key to PGM mode.
Hold down the paper feed button and PLU 67 button together (PLU 67 is two in from the paper feed button).
    PLug in at wall.
The machine will display 'MRS' and beep three times.

Turn the key back to REG mode and see if the keyboard is still faulty.

MASTER RESET
Master reset: Clears all the memory and initializes each preset parameter. The master reset should be performed by using the following procedure.
1. Turn off the power (Power OFF). (See Note 1.)
2. Remove the memory back up battery from ECR.
3. Turn the mode switch to any position other than Power OFF.
4. Turn on the power (Power ON). (See Note 2.) When the master rest is completed, the buzzer sounds three times.
5. Install the memory back up batteries back into the ECR. The master reset can also be accomplished in the following case. (See Note 3.)
Note 1) Power OFF: Means disconnecting the AC power supply to the machine. (Specifically, unplugging the machine.)
Note 2) Power ON: Means connecting the AC power to the machine. (Specifically, plugging in the machine.)
Note 3) In case a power failure occurs when the machine has no battery installed, the master reset operation is automatically performed after the power has been restored.

No need to program it. It is enabled by default. For a percentage discount, just type the percentage eg 10 then press %- button. For amount discount, type the dollar amount eg 2000 (no decimal) then press - button.

Have you tried pushing the no sale button, that usually opens electronic registers. Or you could you read the instruction book, no sarcasm intended, it's just that people forget all about the book once the machine is up and running. Good luck.
