Question about Samsung DLP HL-P5663W 56" TV

3 Answers

Television sound my tv works fine..... but there is this annoying buzzing sound that i would like to get rid of but dont know how...... some help would be nice HLP6063W Samsung. Loud buzzing sound, sounds like a fan. Repair man comes out and says it is the color wheel. $350.00 and he has to take the TV for a week. We don't believe him because what we have read on Jangro.com When the color wheel bearings go out they make a screaming sound and the picture is distorted. Our picture is fine. It definately sounds the same as a cooling fan in a computer, like something is hitting the fins. Anyone replaced the cooling fan?

Hi
the sound is because of only 2 problems1.fan                                                     2.famous color wheel in it so if very well could be a fan, question is there are three. All differant sizes and have differant part numbers so you will have to find out which one and get back to us on its location.
you can get its parts here 1-787-373-11 about $10.00 at www.vancebaldwin.com

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

On Nov 29 you posted that "I recently replaced the color wheel". Other than the color wheel, there would be other motor for fans inside your Samsung for ventilation, might then this be at fault now? Additionally, it could be a cable or wire slightly touching a fan blade hence the sound as you described. Of course best recommended action would be to open again the unit and observed, move some wires/cables away from potentially touching any of the fans.

Incidentally, a loose speaker frame/mounting could also produce annoying buzzing sound.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.

If you have little experience in TV repair, unplug TV from AC outlet, open its back cover and replug TV and power up it. Try to guess where is noisy fan located. Once you pointed out what fan is cause of noise, again unplug tv from AC and take out noisy fan ( if possible and easy for you) then put few drops of WD40 lubricant on its axis and put back fan.
Replug TV and power up and check noise is there or not. If noise is still there, replace that fan.
Don't forget to handle TV with care as TV has high voltages inside.

TV making loud buzzing sound

More sets than you might imagine have this kind of problem---I a regular TV it is usually a transformer that is vibrating hard enough to make the sound---the higher pitched sound is just that--a sound.

If this is a direct view(means not a flatscreen and has a Glass Picture tube it will be either the high voltage transformer or one of several smaller transformers.

This can usually be fixed---seen a few so loud the cats in the house run away.

Let me know model number of set for more information.

On chance it has the high voltage transformer I attach a photo of what that looks like.

Speaker buzz

Well yes your speaker is damaged, the cone actually has a tear, so audio that has low base or high pitch will cause distoration..

Simply remove it, take it with you and buy a similar one.. Same size, same watts, same ohms and just put the new one in.

speakers are standered only brand names are different..

BTW if you feel that you dont want to purchase a new one, simply stick the tear with duct tape, or you can hot glue it together.. If its plasctic, plastic weld works good(ask for it at a hardware)..

You have a corruped EEprom. A very common problem for this TV! See a tech...there are six different EEproms for this TV and he will have to read IC001 and IC 1001 to find the right EEprom!

Buzzing sound wyen volume is high.

If you have a cable box on the TV, make sure the volume on the cable box is turned all the way up. If you do not have a cable box, some TV's seem to have a annoying buzz louder than others.

Toshiba that uses CT-90040 remote

Is the cable remote a programmable universal? If so, just a matter of finding the codes to reprogram functions.
Concerning the "tuning video", are you saying that you can't get to different input sources?

Buzzing Noise and TV picture is yellow

Andy, I'm thinking the buzz is from the deflection coil (yoke) on the neck of the tube or the power supply. Probably not the high voltage as you can hear the "buzz". If it's really that annoying, you can take a length of rubber tubing (no metal) and listen to the buzz coming from the chassis kind of like a stethoscope. STAY AWAY FROM THE HIGH VOLTAGE, please. The yellow picture sounds like a blue chroma failure. A tube can be rejuvinated if need be but that's a job for a pro. Hope this helps.
