Question about Philips Magnavox 51MP392H Rear Projection Television
50 in philips magnavox projection tv made in 1999. friend gave it to me because it took about 20 mins to get a full picture. when turned on, a small pic appeared and then slowly expanded. i moved it to my house in a truck. the only model # i found is FR013 02711 999. is it worth paying $200-400 to repair?
This sounds like it began as a deflection problem and now has become a shutdown problem. due to excessive current (possibly due to the deflection problem becoming worse). if this is a deflection problem it may be a problem on the deflection board or in one of the yoke transformers which are usually connected to the deflection board. In any event I would suggest that you get a qualified TV technician to troubleshoot and repair this TV, due to the nature of this issue.
I hope this helps
