Service Manual for KitchenAid Mixer

I found this link http://downloads.mendingshed.com/KitchenAid_Service_Manual.pdf
but can only get part of it to download. Thought maybe because I only have dial up & this file is 16.2 mb in size. Have seen most pages up to 16 out of 32 & does give good break down of this stand mixer, but my connection keeps dropping. Can't seem to get all of it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If you can get it downloaded, would you please send a copy of it to either jesseddieus@yahoo.com or jesseddieus2000@yahoo.com, since I can't seem to stay connected long enough to do the complete download. Thanks & Have a great day. Jim

Speed problems with kitchenaid artisan mixer.

It sounds like two issues, the first is going to be the phase board, you will need to replace it, that should fix your speed issue.

The second issue will be a stripped gear, in that mixer there is a nylon gear that commonly goes bad, that would be the worm gear.

Here is a link to the phase board: http://www.mendingshed.com/kaphaseboard.html
Here is a link to the worm gear:
http://www.mendingshed.com/kawormgear.html

Also here is a link to the service manual: http://ep.yimg.com/ty/cdn/mendingshed/kitchenaidservicemanual.pdf

The service manual will show you how to take apart the mixer, and put it back together.

Knob for kitchaid stand mixer

I am assuming you mean the little black knob on the speed control has broken off. I will post the solution for that problem.
The speed control lever on KitchenAid mixers has a little black knob on the end (in some cases this may be white or gray). The knob is pressed onto the lever, so if the knob breaks off your only option is to replace the whole lever.
KitchenAid has a kit that will include all you need to replace the speed control lever. It even comes with instructions. Here is a link to the speed control lever kit on our website: http://www.mendingshed.com/kaleverkit.html

The lever kit includes the speed control lever (with knob), speed link, spring, instructions and a gearbox gasket.

The instructions will only walk you through how to hook up the speed control lever, so if you also need a little guidance in taking the mixer apart, and reassembling it please use the KitchenAid service manual. The manual will walk you through all of the repairs you may need on your mixer, including how to take the mixer apart and put it back together. My motor doesnt seem to go round freely

Does the beater shaft turn when there is no load? (bowl is empty) Or it will not turn at all?

It sounds like you have a stripped gear. Your mixer has a nylon/plastic gear inside the mixer and that is 99% of the time what goes wrong. You will want to open the mixer up and inspect all of the gears, but most likely you will need to replace the worm gear, part number W10112253.

Here at MendingShed.com we sell Genuine KitchenAid parts and the items can be found on our website.

Here is a link to that gear: http://www.mendingshed.com/kawormgear.html

You may also want to replace the grease and gearbox gasket while you have the mixer opened up.

We also have a service manual posted on our website which will aid in taking the mixer apart and putting it back together properly.

Oil leaks out when tip up .around

KitchenAid uses a vegetable based grease inside of their mixers, it is a food safe grease. Because of this if you do not use your mixer often and over time the grease inside the mixer can begin to break down, and an oil will leak from the mixer.

What you will need to do is take the mixer apart, clean out the old grease and replace it with new KitchenAid grease, it is also recommended that you replace the gearbox gasket.

We are one of KitchenAid's largest service centers in the US, everything we sell is Genuine KitchenAid replacement parts.

Here is a link to the grease on our website: http://www.mendingshed.com/kagrease.html
And a link to the gearbox gasket: http://www.mendingshed.com/mixergasket.html

Also to aid you in the repair here is a link to the KitchenAid service manual for your mixer. this will show you how to take the mixer apart, replace the grease, and reassemble the mixer. http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/mendingshed/kitchenaid6qtservicemanual.pdf

The mixer won't work the pasta attachment, keeps rotating the mixer motor.

It sounds like it could be a possible stripped gear. You could have a bad attachment drive gear or bevel pinon gear.
Best thing to do would be to take the mixer apart, and inspect those gears. Here is a link to the service manual which will aid you in taking apart your 4.5 quart mixer: http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/mendingshed/kitchenaidservicemanual.pdf
Here is a link to the attachment drive gear: http://www.mendingshed.com/attachmentgear.html
Here is a link to the bevel pinion center gear: http://www.mendingshed.com/pinionwormgear.html
Let me know if you have any questions.
